I had a letter from Thames Valley police informing me my MX5 had been recorded by a community speed watch in Steeple Claydon (Bucks) and that my details had been added to a database in case it happened again. I contacted them and told them although the car had been purchased in that area it had...
Interesting numbers from my first month with the Zappi.
The Zappi used 245 kWh over the period (including a 7-100% charge) that being a mix of IOGo, solar and peak rate. In total we consumed 498 kWh, purchased 345 (£68), generated 428 kWh (4kW array on FiT, £98 income),consumed 152kWh of the...
Not sure if it happened before but I noticed today that when I washed the car with the wipers in 'service position' they didn't return to parked when I got in the car with the bonnet not latched.
Year 1 for me was £96, year 2 @14,000 miles was £163 at my (nearly) local dealer. Year 2 was basically checks from year 1 plus pollen filter and fob battery.
Great road so long as there's not too many people on it. Been many years since I last drove it, that was in my XJ6 the only issue I had was the brakes didn't work too well by the time I got back to Ambleside.
I felt it responded to the criticism made in the BBC item and may be useful to someone who might think that it hadn't been corrected by a software update.
Another trip along a road that is normally troublesome with the LKA and post SC077 update it was fine, plus the ACC didn't want to slow down on the sweeping bends like it did before the update. Happy Bunny
I had SC077 applied at the second service and was told that the job time allowed to install it was 0.4 hours, as I intended to wait for the car it gave me around 2.5 hours to kill while they checked levels, replaced the pollen filter and key fob battery.
As someone else suggested the Zappi seems to have been designed with FiT tariffs in mind. I can charge my car for 0p from the solar and get paid 7.1p for the same electricity consumed.
Perhaps that explains why Octopus installed a 3 phase Zappi recently when only a single phase was needed. I'm still on FiT and able to charge during the day so suits my needs. Although I have grossly overestimated how much solar I use on a normal day and am considering giving up the guaranteed...
I agree entirely, if it works for you then go for it. IfI was still on the capped rate I wouldn't be trying to squeeze my charging into a 5 hour slot. After10+ years of using Lipo batteries in my hobby I've found that survive longer if I use 60%+ of their capacity before recharging so I try to...
I've not noticed any difference in efficiency (although it has only been a day) but can confirm LKA is much improved and ACC is a bit calmer when going through the village with parked cars on the road. Coincidentally I did a 7-100% balance charge last night, I just used the Zappi boost function...
Strangely I was quite content using the 3 pin evse when I was stuck on a capped rate (due to Shell Energy selling to Octopus), I'd just charged as and when I needed to with a bit of bonus solar as and when. Once the transfer completed I switched to Go to get 5 hours at 8.5p, I found myself only...
Had SC77 applied today at my second service (low mileage £163 @ 14k miles). I'd say it seemed a little less aggressive in its actions, I'll have a better idea tomorrow after a regular journey where I know it usually overreacted. I now have the new version of ACC where it steps 1 mph increments...
