Changed mine yesterday, went smoothly once I found the correct socket for the EVCC module and battery holder. Error messages went after a few moments driving.
Price was fair and used a 5% code from a YouTube channel I follow. Still think the standard version of this battery would have sufficed...
Edit : ah, the 14.6V reading. Yep - only mentioned that to show that charge was happening once I used boost pack to start the car - so more likely battery issues than a dc-dc inverter problem. It’s the sub 12V reading when HV battery disconnected that will be the battery voltage. I should carry...
I debated an AGM but figured that since there is no cranking current, then stop/start features isn’t an issue for an EV so no real discharges like an ICE or hybrid has. Even regen which is mentioned on some data sheets is all handled by the HV battery.
After a couple of times recently when attempting to start the car showed the ‘HV Battery Shutdown message’ I noticed the 12V battery was showing about 11.8V. I popped my booster pack on and it started instantly - once started, the dash showed 14.6V for the battery. So, I suspect my 12V battery...
We know they’re talking nonsense as that’s the same number as the sticker on my EVCC, which did get the software update & has now successfully charged on a Tesla supercharger?♂️
Whilst technically not wrong, 3/4 of this reply from MG feels redundant as it’s true for all non-Tesla EVs.
I wonder if there are any slight differences between these different versions of the EVCC.
I’ve seen up to 89kW charge rates at MFG (as has James from Cleevely on a YouTube video) but...
I’m not optimistic - but don’t really need this, other than holiday in Wales.
I’ve done 18k in just under 3 years, almost exclusively charge at home but won an IONITY 3 month subscription recently, so £0.43/kWh - useful for recent work trips to Kendal.
Heading to North Wales soon though and...
I’ve got an appointment today at dealer for my early September 21 LR. Dealer mentioned the conflicting information from MG & that they can only tell if software upgradable by getting car in and checking. So, should know by lunchtime.
My plan all along was to keep this until 6 years old, should be about 35k miles by then - and likely the soon to be revised model Y (or possibly Polestar) will be 3 years old and loads coming off lease deals to pick up for £20k. Unless there is an evolutionary upgrade to EV tech in the meantime ?♂️
Hope this works - I’m trying to get a dealer response about what I’m booked in for.
Arnold Clark just told me 3 hours labour & a new part in addition to the software update - which would ultimately invalidate my warranty. Wish there was some consistency in the message they’re all giving.
I spoke to the Service Manager on 18th March about this, car booked in for 11th June. They said update wasn’t specified to resolve Tesla issue but also didn’t mention any cost involved.
Only found this thread today - my dealer mentioned that the update wasn’t confirmed by MG to fix the Tesla charging issue, but I’ve got my pre-FL LR booked in for early June anyway. Just in time for summer holiday driving.
