My daughter wanted to replace the badly kerbed and scratched alloys on her Beetle Cabrio. Instead of spending £1200 on a new set of alloys I suggested that we could refurbish the existing wheels ourselves for a fraction of the price. So for the last two weekends we've been sanding and painting...
Daughter wanted to wash her car, so spent the day washing, then polishing the car, cleaned the interior as well. Plus tested the tonneau cover for the cabrio roof for the first time. She's not done a bad job IMO
So I made an unsupervised purchase for myself and bought a 3D scanner to scan objects to either reproduce on my 3D printer, or make accessories for them. This is the scanner
I decided to see if I could put it to practical use, so went about designing a wall mounting bracket for my tyre...
This may sound like a daft question, but my friend has an EV (Polestar 2), and he has been told specifically he is not allowed to jack it up.
I need to jack my MG4 up because I have a flat tyre, the car is at home, and I want to take wheel off, so I can take it to tyre place to get a replacement.
My local council have put up speed awareness signs on various roads near me recently. I've noticed that the speed the sign says I'm doing is 2 mph higher than the speed displayed on the dashboard. I thought speedos aren't allowed to under read, and that at speeds lower than 30 mph tend to...
I had the first service on my MG4 back in June. Earlier today the odometer clicked onto 14,000 miles exactly, and at the same time a warning flashed up saying "Service now!".
I'm assuming this is because the dealership didn't reset the service indicator in the car. Had a quick look through...
I got this today as a Father's day gift from my eldest daughter, it's a Supagard sustainable air freshener. The disc flips open, and inside is a foam pad which you put drops of scented oil onto. The back of the disc has holes in, and it clips onto any air vent using a rubber coated clip. It's...
As I was dragged by the family to Cribbs Causeway today I decided to test out the Tesla Superchargers there as they are open to all EVs. I used the ones by John Lewis in car park A. If you're on travels along the M5, Cribbs Causeway is very close to junction 17 of the M5.
There's plenty of...
I removed my foot rest today so that I could take some measurements from it, and hopefully create a revised version that is a different angle to be more comfortable. What a mess was lurking underneath it! Needless to say, it's been cleaned up.
I also found a bit of liquid on the side of the...
Based on @KMC's recommendation I bought some Supagard Paintseal Cream. I used it on my wife's Polo last week, and today it was the turn of the MG4. I said it before, and I'll say it again, it's great stuff, and takes half the time to use compared with the Autoglym products I used to use.
My...
So today I thought I'd test out the new Tesla Superchargers that have been installed at Burger King, Eastville, Bristol. These chargers are open to all EVs, and as forum members have pointed out, are the cheapest way of rapid charging when out and about. There are 8 350kW chargers here.
I...
As we all know, Sainburys are rolling out Kempower rapid chargers to most of their supermarkets. They are certainly not hanging about getting it done in Bristol. It wasn't long ago they installed 8 of them at Sainburys Emersons Green, Bristol.
Today I popped into Sainsburys Stoke Gifford...
Sunday morning well spent, cleaned inside and out. I do like the Supagard cleaning pack that came with the car. Have added some additional items over the past year to make cleaning a lot quicker and easier. Still got to try their Paint Seal cream that another member recommended.
After several months of testing I'm happy to release the car backseat organiser that I designed and 3D printed.
Files for printing can be found here: MG4 Car backseat organiser by dsimpkins
I got a set of mud flaps for my MG4, and I've been out already and fitted them :D
They were easy to fit, and I hope they stop the sides of the car getting quite so mucky, especially the sills.
Did anybody else get any MG4 related gifts today?
I've added some extra USB ports to our MG4 to keep my daughters happy. Stop them fighting over the single USB port in the back. I bought a charger that plugs into the cigrette lighter socket in the front, and has an extension lead that provides two USB ports in the rear. I've run the cable...
Got sent this earlier:
Contractors working for Osprey have this week begun installation of 16 ultra-rapid electric vehicle (EV) chargers at the Willow Brook Centre, Bradley Stoke.
Previous article on the Bradley Stoke Journal website:
Willow Brook Centre electric vehicle chargers approved at...
Dropped into Sainsburys supermarket at Emersons Green in Bristol this afternoon. I was pleasantly surprised to see they've added 8 150kW rapid chargers. No app for them, work via contactless or chip and PIN only. Easy and fast to use. They look like Osprey ones, but not branded as such.
I have now published the model files for these car boot hooks I made a while ago on Thingiverse if anyone wants to make their own. Full instructions and files can be found on this page MG4 Car boot hook
I use mine for holding the bag with my Type 2 cable secure.
