Octopus does It Again!! (Tariff Reduction July 2024)

In case you haven't seen the email. Prices should be going down. In my area (SE England) the off-peak will be 7p p/kWh (from 7.5p) and the peak 24.450p (from 27.978p) the standing charge remains at 54.831p per day. All include VAT and effective from 1st July. Use my link below if not already...

London to Brighton EV Rally Saturday 22nd June

Yep didn't see any other MG4s but at least I flew the flag for the brand.

    TJA Warning

In your opinion. I've used TJA for lots of motorway driving (with LKA set to middle option) and not had any issues of violent steering pulls etc. It will twitch the wheel if it can't initially understand a change to lane markings, but my previous leased Audi E-tron did that also as a £60k new car.

    No to One Pedal driving

I have an Xpower and use OPD most if the time, even on A roads. Each morning (especially after overnight rain) the first thing I do is give the brakes a good stamping on the quiet roads around home before I get out into traffic. No problems, all good. Plus using OPD on boring slow journeys, I...

London to Brighton EV Rally Saturday 22nd June

Anyone entered & driving this Saturday?

    Abusing the TJA.

I always use TJA on long motorways. Twitches a little to keep in lane but absolutely no pulling to one side etc. Takes away some of the monotony of the drive.

    XPOWER Eco Mode

Quartic, yes. Very radical design for the time.

    Motorway Driving

These are the threads the anti-EV people love. Having to compromise on not using HVAC or driving dangerously slow to eke out the mileage. I've always used ECO mode on motorways and not felt held back or slow. When using ACC I find with the Xpower it is smoother on the re-acceleration following...

Tesla Supercharger membership now £8.99p/m or £90 for year

This screenshot seems to imply otherwise.

    Close to zero?

No. The open to all are CCS

Tesla Supercharger membership now £8.99p/m or £90 for year

Don't think that applies to Tesla. If you're referring to the Public Charge Point Regulations 2023.

Tesla Supercharger membership now £8.99p/m or £90 for year

Which particular part? M6 is very long. Tesla Superchargers nr Stoke for example are useful.

Tesla Supercharger membership now £8.99p/m or £90 for year

There's no guarantee any of these will open to all, for now we'll have to continue planning without these and try to save money with Electroverse etc.

Tesla Supercharger membership now £8.99p/m or £90 for year

I guess there's a business decision for them not opening up the Exeter ones for instance. There's a big Gridserve hub there anyway, although more expensive. No Supercharger sites near Brighton at all, nearest is Crawley so Tesla drivers don't have all the best locations.

Tesla Supercharger membership now £8.99p/m or £90 for year

Save even more money on your road trips. 42 sites in the UK open to all so far. I've previously used Banbury, Stoke & Manchester Trafford Centre. All good, quick, reliable & much cheaper even without joining monthly/yearly scheme.

    Non-Tesla EV Charging

Not sure of the confusion here. There are loads of supercharger sites open to all. As others have said if you downland the Tesla app & absent registered a Tesla, the app knows you're non-Tesla HD will show the relevant sites. Add a payment card and off you go. Banbury, Stoke & Manchester...

    One Pedal Driving

Quite normal. Mine kicked in at about 88% the other day. It's not a big deal IMO as level 3 usually works straight away and I'll use that until next journey. I only use OPD in town anyway personally.

First 250+ mile trip down south in the MG4 LR

Definitely download the Tesla app. There's bound to be somewhere en route you can charge (like Banbury). Simply add a payment card and you'll see which Superchargers are open to all EVs. I used Banbury, Stoke & Trafford Centre Manchester last weekend. So much cheaper.

Real World X Power mi/kWh Thread.

Yeah cheers m8. Getting texts and emails from insurance and repair companies now and all want the same info repeated. Could have been worse!
