    Tyre Pressure Help

Yes, higher pressures reduce rolling resistance. They also reduce grip.

    Tyre Pressure Help

I didn't say you shouldn't check the tyres regularly, for damage and evenness of pressure. What I did say is that it isn't wise to use the "factory setting" at extremes of ambient temperature. If you find a tyre looking a bit flat on a cold day, then check the other pressures and set the flat...

    Tyre Pressure Help

Then they be too high when the weather/tyres warms up, The main thing is to fill the tyres at a medium temperature, around 15 degrees, and then any variance, up or down, will be within reasonable limits.

    Tyre Pressure Help

The pressure will decrease in cold weather. Just go for a drive and the tyres will warm up and the pressure will go up again..

    Charge port door

I got the impression it is quite a major job to get the charge port off. Requires most of the front to come off.

Reassuring MG5 quality update from Cleevely EV

Probably mileage, but bear in mind that a high miler may be DC charges a lot more. I suppose I'm saying it is multifactorial with a bit of luck thrown in.

    MG5 2021 SR SOH

Both NMC and LFP batteries need balancing periodically to get best performance.

All windows down while parked in the rain!!!

I did it twice before I leaned my lesson. The key has a very long range, so be careful not to press anything when you're in the house. Could be a justification to buy yourself a Faraday pouch, to put the key "out of range" whilst you've still got sight of the car.

Leaving the trickle charger outdoors overnight/in bad weather.

It should be IP65 or 66 rated for ingress resistance. Have a look on the attached label. As long as the car is locked the connector will be locked into the charging port.

Auto Express MG5 news. End of the road

The posh marques are bringing out estates, so they must be "aspirational", I'd have thought. I've always liked estates although as I get older and creakier I think a move to something a bit taller may be forced on me.

    A couple more newbie questions

On the other hand cameras can read temporary speed signs, that won't be on a map database. When I first had my car it worked pretty much flawlessly but has become virtually useless since. I'm beginning to suspect there may be more than one cause. The overlays are the obvious one but mine now...

    MG5 Mk 1 v Mk2 - charging & boot size/shape

I'd be interested to know if mudflaps help to keep the reversing camera clean. Doesn't take a lot of rain to find yourself reversing blind.

    A couple more newbie questions

My PFL was pretty good at reading speed signs, when I first got it. It all went to pieces when the 20mph limits came in, in Wales, and they stuck overlays on the existing signs. The camera tends to (partially) see through the large signs, at the start of a limited stretch, so 20 overlaying 30 is...

    New owner questions

Yes, it will fit single-phase as well as three-phase. They're a bit bulkier and pricier but will give the optimal charge rate in all situations. You can keep it for your next car, of course, so look at it as a long-term investment.

    New owner questions

As to your third question, only a granny charger is normally supplied as standard. Whether you need to buy a Type 2 cable will depend on your particular circumstances. If you have a tethered (has its own built in lead) home charger and you will only use rapid DC public chargers you won't need...

Is rust a problem on early MG5s?

No sign of rust on my grey 2021 model. I've seen reports, here, of white cars showing some rust under the bonnet. I think they all start white but other colours get extra coats. I had the opportunity to look at the underside of mine, when it was on the ramp for an MOT, and it looked pretty much...

Impact of KERS on tyre wear

But the 4 is rear wheel drive, so you can't attribute the wear to KERS, as propulsion will almost certainly be responsible for most of it. Same as the front tyres wear out first on the front wheel drive 5.

Silly question, Does the facelift come with a Jack?

I realised, when I was out, that I was thinking of the company vehicle I had before I retired. The employer took the jack out, as we were presumably deemed not competent to change a wheel, and had to wait for RAC assistance. There is a jack with my PFL.

Silly question, Does the facelift come with a Jack?

Just a can of gunge and an electric pump.
