    Brand new 12V battery discharging

The OEM MK 1 battery is lead/acid so can be replaced with similar so avoiding the extra complexity of charging to AGM (yes, I'm aware that all supplier websites do recommend replacing with an AGM stop/start type....upselling? lol )

    MG ZS EV 12V Battery

No, no problems, next start-up was perfectly normal. I did wonder if the radio might need a reset code but was reassured by the fact that, as Fred12345 mentioned, folks are regularly advised to disconnect the battery negative to reset the electronics and no-one has reported any problems from...

    MG ZS EV 12V Battery

Hi, I purchased and fitted this one: 027 Powerline Car Battery 12V ( I decided not to fit the recommended AGM battery as the OE battery was not AGM)

    MG ZS EV 12V Battery

I recently had the same low voltage message come up on my car (also 4 years old) A search for a replacement battery using the reg no. came up with AGM batteries with stop/start capabilities whereas the original is the basic lead acid type. The replacement lead/acid type that I fitted cost...

    12 volt battery replacement query

To close this thread off I can confirm that a code 027 battery is the correct size for the pre-facelift ZS. The replacement was timely as a couple of days after posting this query, whenever I opened the door, I got a bong and a a 'red-letter' message instructing me to put the car into 'ready...

    12 volt battery replacement query

Hi, yes, when looking online I've been drawn to the Tanya deals so will probably buy from them. I also have a booster pack under the seat but as I measured the 12.1V after the car had been not used for a couple of days it's probably time to change (wistfully remembering a battery in an old Volvo...

    12 volt battery replacement query

Many thanks, yes extremely helpful. I looked up the specification for the Bosch battery and it's code is 027 and more importantly the length is 242mm so, on the reasonable assumption that the facelifting didn't include the battery tray, I will order a lead/acid equivalent.

    12 volt battery replacement query

Thanks for your reply but I had already searched the ZS forum using that phrase and found 3 pages of threads. I didn't read every post but most threads related to disconnecting the negative to reset the hardware and carrying a jump starter in case of low battery issues. There is a similar query...

    12 volt battery replacement query

The 'resting' voltage on my battery is now down to 12.1V so, coupled with the low battery message when the accessories phase is on for more than a few minutes, I feel it is time for a new one (car is 4 years old with original battery) The easy option would have been to pop down to Halfords but...

Interesting/worrying story from Scotland - ZS with no brakes.

This story was featured on the morning edition of the Daily Mail webpage and concluded with the comment that MG UK had been contacted for a comment. As the story seems to have disappeared from the afternoon edition, I think I can guess what MG's reaction was! EDIT.....just found article much...

MG ZS EV Granny Charging at a Camp Site?

Campsites will have their own rules on this but the Camping and Caravanning Club have indicated that on their club sites 'trickle charging' of EV's is permitted but the granny charger must be plugged into a socket in the caravan, not directly into the supply bollard (as confirmed in letters...

Steering gone on my 2021 ZS EV

Worrying photos! Some owners have reported 'clicking' from steering which has been ascribed to varying causes......just wondered if you had noticed any noises like this prior to it dropping out? (UJ's usually fail gradually)

    Squeaky brakes.

Having had some 'interesting' experiences with seized bleed nipples in the dim and distant past, in more recent years I've made a point of regularly removing wheels and cracking open the nipples (and then obviously closing them again!) However, in view of the 7 year warranty on the MG I've not...

MG ZS EV brakes and tyres after second service

Interesting thread re. sliding callipers and uneven pad wear as this is something I've always obsessed about, however after maintaining my own vehicles for the last 50 years I'm now reluctantly thinking about hanging up my overalls! One of the reasons for buying an ZS EV with a 7 year warranty...

    Error message on dash

If you have a multimeter it would be worth checking the battery voltage before you open the door or press the 'Start' button. You will then measure the 'resting' voltage which should be around 12.5 volts for a fully charged battery which is not supplying any load.

Charges ok everywhere but at home

The only concern I have about relying solely on granny is if it happens to go wrong but I do live within walking distance of a Screwfix outlet!!

Charges ok everywhere but at home

I plug my granny charger into a previously installed (external waterproof) socket mounted on my gatepost and neither plug or socket have shown any signs of overheating possibly because I usually charge up overnight when ambient temperatures are lower. This socket had only ever previously been...

    front parking sensors

Just no heated rear window? One of my early S/H buys (almost certainly an upright Ford Pop) didn't have a heater of any sort as they were optional extras in those days. I do recollect though that it had a 12v strip element stuck to the bottom of the windscreen to provide rudimentary demisting.....

    Winter charge

Coincidentally I'd also charged my car overnight (granny charger) and noted it estimated exactly the same range as you. I put it down to the low overnight temperature of 3 degrees and I'm expecting the figure to creep up a bit if it gets warmer later on but, as you mentioned, winter range is...

    Breather pipe

I have followed this thread with interest and have finally gone out and had a look (and incidentally why is the bonnet so substantial and heavy; I thought they had to be lightweight for crash collapsibility?) Anyway I also have the black/tube cap on a Sep 20 reg so hope Lovemyev is wrong...
