Just checked my tax status on the GOV website today and it now shows taxed until 1st April 2026, so I assume it worked as intended and I will now not pay any tax for 12 months.
That's very frustrating. I had an issue last summer (which stretched into late Autumn) whereby my infotainment screen died and flat out refused to come back on.
Took numerous visits to the dealer including a service and a decent wait for a new screen to arrive, but they did replace it under...
This is actually one of the few things that has taken some getting used to for me.
Slowing down with the help of regen only for it to suddenly back off and rely entirely on the friction brakes. It definitely can catch you by surprise if you're not paying attention!
No renewal letter yet, I thought I'd try take the initiative after reading some of the posts and comments on here and re-tax the car early to get the £0.00 rate. However, not sure if it actually works. I'll keep an eye on it.
During the recent cold temps here I've seen around 150-175 mile range on an 80% charge in my Trophy. However I balanced charged to 100% yesterday and I had a range of 237 miles, presumably due to the warmer temperatures.
I do a similar yearly mileage to you at the moment, and I charge to 80%...
Hi all, I just want to check I've done this correctly.
I've just been on the GOV website, entered my reg and V5C code, it told me it will cost £0.00 from 1st April 2025 for 12 months. Does that mean I've effectively now avoided having to pay the £195 tax?
Sorry if that's a silly question, but...
Hi Rob,
I had the exact same issue when I got my MG4 last year. In the end I had to email MG Customer support with proof of ownership (V5), along with my details, car reg and VIN with a request to reset the iSmart.
MG aftersales is notorious, but to their credit in this instance they unbound...
Yep mine does the same too, usually after preheating the car at night. Shows the brightness as low but the screen is almost dazzling. Touching the brightness bar seems to reset it back to normal.
I've only used the wireless charge a couple of times as I found it very inconsistent, driving over any sort of bump seemed to stop it charging.
I just plug it in via cable now to charge (and for Carplay).
Hi Nick, firstly welcome to the forum, but very sorry to hear about your experience so far.
As you may come to find out, there are many of us on the forum who have had our own share of poor experiences with MG dealerships myself included. (My cars central screen failed completely about 4...
Think I paid £120 for my first service last year which I thought was very reasonable, that was about the only good thing I can say about that dealer though.
I've had that a few times before but sporadically. I assumed I wasn't letting the car boot up properly before plugging it in and after trying again a couple more times it seems to work fine again. Just one of those things.
Since this is my first EV I'm probably a bit more cautious with it than I need to be. I try to drive fairly economically (with the occasional hoon!).
I charge to 80% once a week, with a 100% balance charge once every couple of months or before a longer journey.
Treat it a lot better than my...
