adaptive cruise control
Adaptive cruise control (ACC) is a type of advanced driver-assistance system for road vehicles that automatically adjusts the vehicle speed to maintain a safe distance from vehicles ahead. As of 2019, it is also called by 20 unique names that describe that basic functionality. This is also known as Dynamic cruise control.Control is based on sensor information from on-board sensors. Such systems may use a radar, laser sensor or a camera setup allowing the vehicle to brake when it detects the car is approaching another vehicle ahead, then accelerate when traffic allows it to.
ACC technology is regarded as a key component of future generations of intelligent cars. The technology enhances passenger safety and convenience as well as increasing road capacity by maintaining optimal separation between vehicles and reducing driver errors. Vehicles with autonomous cruise control are considered a Level 1 autonomous car, as defined by SAE International. When combined with another driver assist feature such as lane centering, the vehicle is considered a Level 2 autonomous car.
Adaptive cruise control does not provide full autonomy: the system only provides some help to the driver, but does not drive the car by itself.
We recently picked up a new IM5, and for the most part it's been great, one of the little niggles we have is with cruise control. The minimum distance to the car In front is too large for peak hour traffic (some people will literally pull out from behind you to pull in ahead of you). While...
Hello everyone,
I did a first highway trip. The fuel economy (under 6l at 120km/h) and ride comfort was good, even better than cars from bigger brands. The ACC and ICA work well most of the time.
However i experienced some facial blushing and ear discomfort. I don't want to develop highway...
So I've had my S5 Trophy Looking Range for three months now. Have to say, I'm pretty disappointed overall.
There's just so many wee niggles. Wee cost saving annoyances. The non automatic window closing for instance. Or the lack of a light on the vanity mirror under the visor.
Then there's the...
Like the title says, I've got buyers remorse and I haven't even got it yet.
I have order the car via Araval, it is to be my company car. I'm a field service engineer, covering the lower half of England.
I ordered the IM6 Long Range thinking this car would be great for the job. However, after...
Hi Everyone
So if you replace the front bumper on an MG4
And you no longer have the front Radar as it was lost in the crash
Can you just buy one of those replacement units off ebay for around £150
Pop that in...... And away you go!
Or is it more complicated than that?
Thanks in advance
Hi I have taken delivery of my new camden grey S5 having upgraded from a ZS EV and everything is fine so far. I am very happy with it. This is the first car I've had with one pedal driving, and what I was hoping some one could explain is, is the energy recovery better on one pedal driving or...
Me and my wife recently took a trip/holiday to Scotland in my ZS Hybrid +.
The trip started from Stourbridge West Midlands to Cockermouth, Carlisle, Fort William, Fort Augustus, Inverness, Carlisle again, Liverpool and finally back to Stourbridge.
We did the trip over 5 days, covered 1034...
I along with four others, recently took a 160km road trip, not very far but data is useful. The battery went from 80% to 44%. That indicates an easy 320km range with comfortable head room. Obviously working from a 100% charge would shift the range by another 100km perhaps. The trip consisted...
Ive just received my MG ZS EV, i was watching youtube videos online on the cruise control. The videos have thought me a lot and i can now use the adoptive cruise control... but what i cannot find online is how to enable the normal cruise control. Can you guys tell me how to turn it on, or know...
The auto dipping headlights on my 4 week old S5 are terrible, often blinding oncoming vehicles, sometimes not auto dipping at all, needing to manual dip, feels so sluggish as though they've been on the beer and forget to work.
Has anyone else noticed this sluggish nature on auto dip?
I doubt...
My 3 week old MGS5 has developed a significant and potentially dangerous problem with the ACC, it doesn't always turn off when pressing the the centre of the 3 left side steering wheel buttons, (the button showing a steering wheel pic)
To set ACC, I'm pressing the left centre steering wheel...
Just saw a similar thread on the MG3 forum and thought it was a cool idea.
I replaced a 2014 Mercedes C220. I loved the car, but it started getting quite expensive — so I did the math and came to the conclusion that it just wasn’t worth the money anymore. I sold it and bought a used MG4 Luxury...
Noticed some random warning popups, checked the handbook but that didn't help.
It sits to the bottom left in the dash just above the fuel gauge, there is some very fine text that I cannot read under the exclamation mark within the triangle and it seems to be yellow/orange in colour.
It appears...
There is quite a long, quite steep, hill from Westerham to Biggin Hill, and if I use ACC to climb it, it surges so badly as to be quite unpleasant.
The Audi managed it with no problem.
Have others discovered this?
Went for a bit of a trip today, up to Ipswich and back home.
Generally am liking the Xpower.
One thing did stand out though, the ACC is not as good as other systems I have used. A couple of times it suddenly decelerated due to a car approaching in the other lane. Then there is the drop in...
I have recently purchased a Cyberster GT and whilst I love the car and particularly its looks - the ACC speed display does my head in. Its location is poor (top left of the centre display) obscured by the steering wheel. It’s also very small making it hard to read anyway. This is a safety issue...
Yesterday travelling on the A2 was an old fashioned motorcycle sidecar outfit, I was using adaptive cruise control set at 60 mph and as the car approached behind the out fit the cruise control was switching from person to motorcycle in blue on the dash and when it went to person the brakes were...
I tend to use ACC to stick to speed limits but today I was behind a big rig cab that was being towed. Those things are towed by the back wheels so what was in front of me was the oncoming cab of a truck. I could understand if it couldn't identify the vehicle on the display screen but it showed...
I've rarely had the opportunity (or motivation) to use ACC but a recent longish trip on fairly fast straightish highways seemed like a good time to try it again. Sadly, despite an OTA firmware update and a 20,000 km service earlier this year I found that it seems incapable of the kind of...
