calculation

A calculation is a deliberate mathematical process that transforms one or more inputs into one or more outputs or results. The term is used in a variety of senses, from the very definite arithmetical calculation of using an algorithm, to the vague heuristics of calculating a strategy in a competition, or calculating the chance of a successful relationship between two people.
For example, multiplying 7 by 6 is a simple algorithmic calculation. Extracting the square root or the cube root of a number using mathematical models is a more complex algorithmic calculation.
Statistical estimations of the likely election results from opinion polls also involve algorithmic calculations, but produces ranges of possibilities rather than exact answers.
To calculate means to determine mathematically in the case of a number or amount, or in the case of an abstract problem to deduce the answer using logic, reason or common sense. The English word derives from the Latin calculus, which originally meant a pebble (from Latin calx), for instance the small stones used as a counters on an abacus (Latin: abacus, Greek: ἄβαξ, romanized: abax). The abacus was an instrument used by Greeks and Romans for arithmetic calculations, preceding the slide-rule and the electronic calculator, and consisted of perforated pebbles sliding on iron bars.

    Better alternative to miles/kWh?

Why not display miles travelled per battery % used (M/%U) rather than M/kWh? Then the remaining range displayed can be a calculation of M/%U x remaing_battery_% (M/%R) ? Much simpler and in my experience, accurate. Thoughts?

    How do MG calculate mi/kWh

I wonder if anyone with more experience of MG EVs can explain how MG calculate consumption (mi/kWh). The trip today was 88 miles, we started with 100% battery, and over that journey the consumption would have been pretty much the same. The Cyberster provides several numbers: The average mi/kWh...

    Normalised Range Estimate

Range estimate variability. Thought I'd post some actual data to show how much it can vary (and why). The chart below shows the Normalised Range Estimate calculated at various times over the past four months: Normalised Range Estimate is the range estimate if the car at the time had 100%...

Calibration needed after changing to lighter rims?

Hi everyone! Way over from Singapore and just joined the forum. Hope to learn and share here. Got the MG ZS EV and a query. I just change my rims, same size but lighter. Is there a recalibration needed so that the range calculation will be accurate? Thanks in advance!
