cruise

Cruise ships are large passenger ships used mainly for vacationing. Unlike ocean liners, which are used for transport, cruise ships typically embark on round-trip voyages to various ports of call, where passengers may go on tours known as "shore excursions". On "cruises to nowhere" or "nowhere voyages", some cruise ships make two- to three-night round trips without visiting any ports of call.
Modern cruise ships tend to have less hull strength, speed, and agility compared to ocean liners. However, they have added amenities to cater to water tourists, with recent vessels being described as "balcony-laden floating condominiums".
As of December 2021, there were 323 cruise ships operating worldwide, with a combined capacity of 581,200 passengers. Cruising has become a major part of the tourism industry, with an estimated market of $29.4 billion per year, and over 19 million passengers carried worldwide annually as of 2011. The industry's rapid growth saw nine or more newly built ships catering to a North American clientele added every year since 2001, as well as others servicing European clientele until the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 saw the entire industry all but shut down.As of 2023, the world's largest cruise (and passenger) ship is Royal Caribbean's Wonder of the Seas, which surpassed its predecessor, Symphony of the Seas, and will be surpassed by its successor, Icon of the Seas when it enters service in 2024.

Can't use cruise control in Custom Drive Mode

Does anyone know why the Cyberster doesn't allow the use of ACC Cruise Control when using the Custom Drive mode? Is this common on all MGs?

    Cruise Control

Went on motorway this morning and tried cruise control, all fine until starting to go on a slight incline then the car started to slow down from setting 60mph to 50mph. At this stage i took it off Anyone experienced this?

    Cruise control

I do not like adaptive cruise control. Urgh, how do I get normal cruise control where you just turn on and increase the spread or decrease the speed yourself

    Frightening Adaptive Cruise

Adaptive cruise control is an option I've always yearned for when looking at new cars, but having now experienced it I'm not sure I like it. In town traffic within 30/40mph zones it's excellent..brakes and accelerates nice and smooth, although sometimes needing a nudge of the left centre button...

Adaptive Cruise Control - Braking either on or off?

I've rarely had the opportunity (or motivation) to use ACC but a recent longish trip on fairly fast straightish highways seemed like a good time to try it again. Sadly, despite an OTA firmware update and a 20,000 km service earlier this year I found that it seems incapable of the kind of...

Combining dynamic cruise control and traffic sign recognition

I think it would be a game changer for MG if the Dynamic Cruise Control (DCC) and Traffic Sign Recognition (TSR) systems worked together to automatically adjust speed in response to changing traffic signs. Integrating these two systems would significantly enhance driver convenience and safety...

    Cruise control

Can anyone explain, in simple terms, how to operate adaptive cruise control. I know what it does, but the actual operation as explained in the manual is very long-winded. By the time I get to another section I've forgotten the first.

    MG4 calibration advice

Hi, I've had my MG4 for a year and a half, and love driving it. However, I live in quite a rural area, and have sadly hit a couple of wildlife (firstly a pigeon who snapped a tiny bit of the grill but no other damage, calibration worked fine afterwards), but then a young deer who luckily got...

Active cruise control not that good

I tried it out yesterday for the first time on 50 limit dual carriageway, it was fine and adjusted it's speed well, I did get a bit nervous when we came to the island at the end and had the brake covered but it slowed down well enough, the next bit was a 40 limit so I left it to fend for itself...

MG4 Adaptive Cruise seems very nervous?

Having used my MG4 ACC quite a bit now I’m finding its behaviour is…well…pretty nervous. Lots of de-acceleration when changing lanes, timid on bends, and not a lot of fluidity in how it accommodates cars changing into my lane. Any minor change in the speed of the car in front translates into...

    Cruise Control Steering Wheel Stiff

Hi, I searched in the forum and couldn't find the answer to this. For mg MG4 Trophy EV, the steering wheel appears stiff when on Adaptive Cruise Control. What I mean by stiff is if you're trying to re-align the car in the lane and move the steering wheel slightly, the steering wheel is very...

Adaptive Cruise Control issues after update

Several software updates were performed during my MG4 SE LR first service in April. I now notice that the ACC function is behaving differently. It appears as if switching on ACC is now also enabling LKA, with the associated unpleasant steering nudges. Anyone else seeing this? One of my...

Loss of cruise control and collision warning

When travelling to Edinburgh on the M90 near the turn off for Kinross B977 I lose my cruise control and collision warning. This has happened on the last 6 journeys whether travelling north or south. The car resets itself after about 2mls. The loss seems to coincide with passing a phone /...

What I like about my MG4 Trophy

The Turning circle. The personal comforts. The feel of driving the car. The acceleration. The Cruise control. The wiper speed reduction when stopped at the lights. External lights make locating in the carpark easier. The modern look inside and out. The soft headrest. The blindspot indication.

    MG4 LR 2024 issues.

Just leased an MG4 LR 24 reg. The issues with the software are ridiculous. So far they are - Bluetooth not pairing for more than 1 journey and then refusing to pair again. Adaptive cruise control switches itself off. Radio refusing to work at all (DAB & FM) Satnav trying to go unusual routes...

    Cruise Control not disengaging

On 3 occasions now, I've nudged the Cruise Control lever forward, the way I tend to disengage ACC, but it's taken up to 10 seconds before it's actually disengaged! By that I mean the car carries on at the speed set (70mph), without slowing down, despite going slightly up hill. Also, the...

    Cruise Control Not Working

First motorway trip in the new car and I always use cruise control through the many 50mph zones. However nothing happened when I pressed the button on the steering wheel. Would this be related to my start-up habit of deactivating ELK & FCA? I tried turning them back on (whilst driving) but...

Active Cruise & cornering, is this an issue?

Hi all, I've had me SV EV since September. I love it, however I have a we gripe! When on ACC, as I move the steering wheel on a bend the power drops. go around a tight bend and I'm slowed right down unless I override by pressing the accelerator. Is this a fault, or am I missing something? It...
