fan

Fan labor, also called fan works, are the creative activities engaged in by fans, primarily those of various media properties or musical groups. These activities can include creation of written works (fiction, fan fiction and review literature), visual or computer-assisted art, films and videos, animations, games, music, or applied arts and costuming.
Although fans invest significant time creating their products, and fan-created products are "often crafted with production values as high as any in the official culture," most fans provide their creative works as amateurs, for others to enjoy without requiring or requesting monetary compensation. Fans respect their gift economy culture and are often also fearful that charging other fans for products of their creativity will somehow fundamentally change the fan-fan relationship, as well as attract unwanted legal attention from copyright holders. The skills that fans hone through their fan works may be marketable, and some fans find employment through their fan works.
In recent years, media conglomerates have become more aware of how fan labor activities can add to and affect the effectiveness of media product development, marketing, advertising, promotional activities, and distribution. They seek to harness fan activities for low-cost and effective advertisements (such as the 2007 Doritos Super Bowl Ad contest) at the same time as they continue to send out cease and desist to the creators of amateur fan products—threatening legal action whose basis is increasingly being questioned by fandom rights groups like the Organization for Transformative Works, which assert the transformative and therefore legal nature of fan labor products.
In the fandom subgroups science fiction fandom and media fandom, fan labor activities may be termed fanac (from "fannish activities"), a term that also includes non-creative activities such as managing traditional science fiction fanzines (i.e., not primarily devoted to fan fiction), and the organization and maintenance of science fiction conventions and science fiction clubs.
A more general and internet focused form of "fan work" is user-generated content, which became popular with the Web 2.0, often also a form of virtual volunteering.

MG5 LR Exclusive A/C fan noise

Hi, I have had my SR Excite for four years and have now bought a LR Exclusive. The LR has full A/C so can't compare to my SR but the fan when on full makes quite a noise is this normal?

    Air Con vs Heating etc

Hi, In ICE cars we all know that AC on means compressor on and loss of power/poorer fuel consumption. I've never noticed having the fan on gently made much difference to the MPG either. Now when I turn the fans on, even at pretty much ambient temperature and leave it on low, the mileage drop...

    Heating fan intermittent/not working

Looking for help/suggestions. I have had my MG4 for 18 months with no problems. Last week the heater became intermittent- just switched itself on and off randomly. Today the heating works for about 3 seconds, then switches itself off and does not work at all including the front windscreen...

    The sound

I enjoy the sound the motors make, and frequently claim it sounds like a turbine, but that's not quite right. A big industrial fan? Office block aircon unit? 🤷 What about this? I think it's closest so far. 🤔 Maybe not. Judge for yourself. 😉...

I'm a big fan of this

I got a slightly larger one in Leclerc in France in May as we had a whole two days of 30° sun, When I got home I tried to find one on Amazon so we had one each but ended up buying this one, now and then you actually get something which just does the jib as this does, I charged it up on Thursday...

How to approach intermittent problems under warranty?

We have a problem with the heater fan on our MG ZS EV (gen 1 with no climate control so fan speed is manually set). On some fan settings, the fan often cuts out. Info from here has helped us work out it's probably the heater control resistor. I booked it into our local MG dealer but since...

    Precondition fan speed issue

Hi all, When I preheat my car in the morning the fan speed is on low. I've tried setting the fan speed high before getting out of the car but that doesn't work. I can't see an option in the app to increase the speed either. Does anyone know how to have the fan speed higher when pre heating...

Is the defogger really that bad?

It's that time of year when the windscreen is misted up in the morning so I put the demister on to clear it. My fan is usually set to 22C with auto and I only do it to clear the screen when it happens and turn it off when the screen is clear. But I notice that my power consumption ROCKETS to...

Radiator fan on MG4 (heatpump) much more aggressive during cold temperatures?

It's like 1C degree where I live at the moment. I have the heat pump edition, so AC is on all the time. I've noticed that the radiator fan is much more aggressive during low temperatures. I guess it's normal? Obviously I don't know if it's running while moving because I'm sitting inside the...

Is it the fan or a/c that reduces range

Its established that heating and a/c will reduce range and this will be reflected in the GOM range when activated and deactivated. However I have noticed that if I turn the fan on without a/c, the GOM range decreases. I'd expect this. If however I then select a/c in addition to the fan, the...

MG4 EV (air con / fan problem) noise

getting air flow into the cabin without the fan operating?

When driving the car along, is it possible to get air flow into the MK1 ZS EV without opening a window and getting "ear drum buffering" or running the power hungry fan? If not, is it the same issue with the MG5? even with the sun roof tilted in the ZS the cabin gets stuffy, especially in the...
