infrastructure

Infrastructure is the set of facilities and systems that serve a country, city, or other area, and encompasses the services and facilities necessary for its economy, households and firms to function. Infrastructure is composed of public and private physical structures such as roads, railways, bridges, tunnels, water supply, sewers, electrical grids, and telecommunications (including Internet connectivity and broadband access). In general, infrastructure has been defined as "the physical components of interrelated systems providing commodities and services essential to enable, sustain, or enhance societal living conditions" and maintain the surrounding environment.Especially in light of the massive societal transformations needed to mitigate and adapt to climate change, contemporary infrastructure conversations frequently focus on sustainable development and green infrastructure. Acknowledging this importance, the international community has created policy focused on sustainable infrastructure through the Sustainable Development Goals, especially Sustainable Development Goal 9 "Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure".
One way to describe different types of infrastructure is to classify them as two distinct kinds: hard infrastructure and soft infrastructure. Hard infrastructure is the physical networks necessary for the functioning of a modern industrial society or industry. This includes roads, bridges, and railways. Soft infrastructure is all the institutions that maintain the economic, health, social, environmental, and cultural standards of a country. This includes educational programs, official statistics, parks and recreational facilities, law enforcement agencies, and emergency services.

    Another infrastructure rant!

So I took the missus down to the South West of Scotland for a short break this week. There were a few places she wanted to visit down that way including a gem museum. So off we popped with a full charge in my LR taking the scenic route through the Galloway Forrest. It was beautiful. I had no...

    Electra in France

Hey I spend a lot of time in France, love the charging infrastructure and have almost no issues charging while there. I normally use Octopus Electroverse card or CC. Tried to use some new Electra chargers yesterday and had an issue using the smaller 25kw. Tried two different chargers. I...

We recently returned from our first six-weeks longer-distance trip from Essex to SW France – 750 miles, excluding the channel tunnel, each way – for which we particularly chose the MG4 Trophy Extended Range (late ’23) version. Both of us are now of an age that calls for a gentler drive spanning...

    Charge Card Advice Pls...

Greetings. My first post. I had one of the original Gen1 22kw EV's a decade ago, but a lack of public infrastructure (and an unreliable onboard charger) made it practically impossible to use. Long story short, I ended up back in an ICE. Accordingly everything I know about public charging is...

    Tricky Chargers

Yesterday, in the pouring rain I succeeded in failing to get an Osprey charger to work. The routine seemed fairly straightforward, tap your payment card, choose which connector to use, and hey presto, the connector is locked into the charger, and won't budge...£25 down as they lock that until...

    EV mode

Hi, I have just purchased an MG HS PHEV, October 2021, as a interim step towards full EV ownership as the infrastructure for full EV is not yet available, and mainly as a way of reducing the running costs as the majority of the time is spent on short journeys of 5 to 25 miles a day, which I...
