long distance
A long-distance trail (or long-distance footpath, track, way, greenway) is a longer recreational trail mainly through rural areas used for hiking, backpacking, cycling, horse riding or cross-country skiing. They exist on all continents except Antarctica.
Many trails are marked on maps. Typically, a long-distance route will be at least 50 km (30 mi) long, but many run for several hundred miles, or longer. Many routes are waymarked and may cross public or private land and/or follow existing rights of way. Generally, the surface is not specially prepared, and the ground can be rough and uneven in areas, except in places such as converted rail tracks or popular walking routes where stone-pitching and slabs have been laid to prevent erosion. In some places, official trails will have the surface specially prepared to make the going easier.

Hi all,
Just bought a used MG5 LR, '71 plate (October registered) with 28,000 miles. I've covered a few trips around town but am driving around 300 miles from Devon to Doncaster this weekend, planning to stick at 70mph as much as possible Obviously I'm going to need to charge about halfway...
First long distance trip today from mid-Devon to Sheffield. About 250 miles, 220 of which on motorway.
Points:
charged once at Droitwich. Pod-point 16 minute charge for £16 for 25 kWh to go from 45% to 80%.
arrived Sheffield with 27% charge
used tja for most of the motorway driving
Car stays...
This is my experience driving to Paris and back this past week in my MG4 SE SR gen1 (gen1/phase1/MY22, call it whatever, it's the one without the rear wiper to be clear)
Range
Left on Tuesday morning, came back on Friday evening.
I drove most of the time in the stock Normal mode (including the...
I've had my Trophy for a couple of months but haven't done any decent distance journeys yet (just local commute stuff). Got an overnight drive coming up (300 plus miles). I've a couple of concerns / questions.
1) I'll need to charge en route but I've not used any public charger to date (only...
So picked the Trophy up yesterday and had a run today from Manchester to south Shropshire on a mix of motorway and A roads and got 4.4 mikes/Kw which thanks to the warm weather I don’t think is too bad - had to run the A/C as it’s so hot?
Pleased to see I got 7 KW regen too
Sorry for the...
Having just returned from a 320 mile round trip (160 each way) in my new (week old) Trophy on R30, I experienced the following:
1. Using the touch screen whilst driving is a bit like shooting an arrow whilst drunk. When I did hit the correct area on screen, sometimes it responded, sometimes...
In June, I'll need to make a return journey of 350 miles (without the wife as a passenger) but have never needed to use public chargers on shorter sub 200 mile trips. TBH, I'm bricking it.
I know I shouldn't worry but having never done it before, it's the unknown that gets me. Zap Map has...
Hello, looking for some long distance charging location suggestions.
I live just south of Perth in Scotland and due to a sick family member we may shortly be driving down to Devon (500 miles each way!) and I wanted to ask this glorious group for any tips on how to best stop to charge.
I have...
I took my mg5 LR on a journey from South Wales to Eden project last week. What an absolute nightmare that was. Getting there was ok, but the way back took twice as long as it should have as there were so few chargers, and every fewer working. I really should have done my homework better and...
So finished my first trip to Scotland and back to London.
The car performed well. In fact the ACC and the MG Pilot made the motorway driving less tiring than usual.
Learning to manage recharging was interesting. The outwards trip was poorer due to trying to max out the battery, whereas the...
I apologise if this is a question already dealt with but I cannot find a specific reply to my perceived problem. I am concerned about a journey we are about to undertake. We will shortly be travelling to France and the journey will involve about 250 miles in UK followed by 350 miles in France...
Hi guys. I live in Belfast but in laws are in Sheffield. A few times a year we drive over Belfast > Stranraer > Sheffield. It’s about 340 miles.
Usually we take the petrol car but I’m keen to try out a long trip with my MG5.
I can normally get around 180 miles on a full charge so will have...
How are owners finding the PHEV on long journeys? In normal times We drive from Yorkshire to Prague at least once a year (500+ miles a day) and tow our caravan long distances upto 400miles in a day in UK and Europe. My current Volvo is a superb mile munching machine holding 100mph on de...
I created a Google spreadsheet which allows you to enter the number of miles/kilometers that you can drive before needing a break.
The sheet then calculates the approximate real world EV range needed to comfortably drive this distance.
And then calculates the approximate range quoted by...
I did my first ever long drive today. 110 mile round trip. Driving with the HVAC, stereo and heated seat on. Temperature was 0-2 degrees. Got back home with 10% battery and 12 miles left.
Did get a bit stressful towards the end when the power was limited and the miles dropped to the teens.
I...
