speedometer

A speedometer or speed meter is a gauge that measures and displays the instantaneous speed of a vehicle. Now universally fitted to motor vehicles, they started to be available as options in the early 20th century, and as standard equipment from about 1910 onwards. Other vehicles may use devices analogous to the speedometer with different means of sensing speed, eg. boats use a pit log, while aircraft use an airspeed indicator.
Charles Babbage is credited with creating an early type of a speedometer, which was usually fitted to locomotives.The electric speedometer was invented by the Croat Josip Belušić in 1888 and was originally called a velocimeter.

    My speedometer just disappeared.

    Was driving back from the shops last night and after 2-3 minutes the speedometer and motor power gauges disappeared. Can still see the middle bit with Amp voltage, can still switch to tyre pressure but can't see how fast I'm going. Got home, tried turning it off and on again. No dice...

    Hello all, could anyone tell me, what are the stars that appear sporadically next to my speedometer on my mg4 trophy long range please? Sometimes it is 2 and other times it is 3 stars! Many thanks in advance.

    Actual speed and GPS speed

    Have you also noticed that the ACTUAL speed of the mg3 on the speedo is almost the same as the speed recorded on the GPS? It's the first time a car hasn't left a margin ... very useful for avoiding speed camera fines.

    Has anyone found a way to switch MPH to km/h - or even display both? Would be useful when travelling in Europe. The car must be capable as it sells in all markets, but probably a deep setting that isn't easily accessible
