Hawkins in Cornwall want £75 to update our 2023 mg ZS trophy software. Say it's MG not them.

What updates, I was told there weren't any for our ZX TLR 23 reg. The Tesla charging update is free!

MG supply the updates for free. It's the dealerships which sometimes charge for a technicians time to install them.

They showed me a printout that was meant to show that the charge comes from, and goes to, MG. I complained quite vociferously and got it free. Thank you, Hawkins.

Interesting...

The thing about the Tesla 'fix' is if MG fessed up and admitted they got it wrong where many others hadn't, they would do the standard practice, and allow the dealer to charge the fix and the labour back to MG under warranty.

Instead we were told we have this half hearted "compromise" where the dealer gets the update without the cost but they charge the customer for the labour to do the update.

Warranty patching should be done under warranty.

Feature updates, fine, charge for them.

from memory, that was what Tesla customer services were telling people some time ago ...
