Bad tyre pressure icon and yellow triangle plus occasional message on screen with audio warning. As this may need a warranty repair and I do not trust stealerships, how can I avoid a possible "Yes, there was a leak and we fixed it, give us your credit card!" scam??

One suggested solution was to pump it up to 41psi instead of the recommended 39psi? If I take the tyre off, will a tyre shop drop the tyre into the water bath to see if the tyre leaks from the beads? Thanks.

Is the tyre actually losing pressure or are you just seeing temperature related effects?

If you take it to a tyre shop they’ll take the wheel off for you and check it right there. Assuming they have a water bath of course, but you’d like to think they would. Alternatively you could try some light soapy water to check for any air leaks if you want to do it at home. Or even buy a big enough tub to rotate the wheel in.

Besides the warnings etc what is the actual pressure reported but the sensor? As @Alb mentions it is probably Occam's Razor, i.e. a slow puncture.

Might be temp. related. Have pumped it up to 40psi and will check again. MG iSmart app is still reporting an abnormal situation, but the msgs on screen are off. iSmart claims to be running in the background, but seems to be faulty.
Tyre shop wants $50 to fix a flat.

Even at 32 degrees C the MG still asks me if I want battery heating?

After pumping the tyre up you need to drive the car for a couple of miles for the TPMS to register the new pressure.

Where is Bentley (WA) ... Western Australia? If yes then I doubt you're seeing temperature-related effects, so loss of pressure is likely real. Advice on that is already given above, but options and prices may vary in your geography.
