Our car has now done just over 5000 km since new just over 2 months ago. In that time both I and my wife have experienced an increasing frequency of error messages with the consequential close down of certain functionality such as auto high beam; speed limit sensor and possibly other functions. These errors start randomly and not following any changes in settings from the driver.
I have called MG in Royan (SW France) who initially were defensive saying that they had no software update available. However I persisted and stated that this is a real safety issue and that it is not acceptable to expect me to simply live with it. They have agreed to take the car in for a full check up. I attached the errors displayed on the driver screen and wonder how many of you are experiencing the same thing and what was MG's response / resolution ? Any info you have will be helpful if I need to "guide" MG here as to how to resolve these worrying problems. Thanks

All those systems going offline is usually a sign that the windscreen camera is blocked (e.g. by frost or condensation), OR that it is faulty/needs recalibration.

Many thanks. Well the car is cleaned regularly and it occurs usually well into the journey, not starting out. Noted re faulty / recalibration though. That suggests an easy fix ?

I can't say - I can only offer my own experience, which was that the screen frosted up around that area of the windscreen whilst I was driving and I got all those warning messages. When I was able to stop and clear/clean the windscreen they went away.

Someone else has reported getting condensation inside the housing - i.e. on the inside of the windscreen at the camera area. They also got those warning messages. Have a check around this board - it's a fairly recent post (within the past week). I recall that they even posted a photo of it.

OK Thanks. I would hope that MG would know this. I sent them the photo but they said nothing. Anyway, thanks. If it's an easy fix, I have no problem with spraying some de-icer around the top centre of the windscreen !

Here is the post to which you refer - many thanks :

You can also get these error messages if the sun is low and the camera is looking into the low sun. Now you are aware of this, it will be easy for you to check whether the messages occur when driving towards the sun.

I can't say what the exact cause is for this. But I've also encountered seemingly random error messages on my journeys. Just last night I had one telling me the speed limit detection failed.

All of these errors only seem to persist for the current journey and then return to normal the next time I drive the car. I put them down to either random software glitches or like others have pointed out a buildup of mist on the window around the cameras.

12v battery on its way out?
Well the car is just two months old from new, BUT, I have noticed a RED battery light pop up very occasionally. Could it be possible ?! Is there anyway that I can test it? If the battery were "dead" I would expect the warning light to be displayed permanently. However, the fact that it has displayed at all, suggests that this could be part of the problem. Thanks for these thoughts.

You could have loose battery terminals. Has happened before. Easy to check and remedy.👍

The car may have been built well before you took receipt of it, that battery might have been sitting idle with a low state of charge in a parking lot for months. It definitely sat idle on a ship for a few weeks.

My build date is stated on a sticker inside the door near the placard for tyre pressures etc. Otherwise there is often a sticker underneath the shelf in the boot that indicates roughly when the car was made.
