Hi,

As the title says, sadly i did not notice my kid leaving the rear window half-open. Luckily we have a private gated parking spot, but it is not covered and overnight some slight rain caused the door pockets, rear bench on one side and the floor carpet are soaking wet.

Has anyone been in a similar situation? My initial drive is to find videos of disassembling the rear part of the interior and door and get that all dried, already paper and rugs are placed as you can imagine.

Main concern is, where could that water get into that is not foreseen by MG, that might cause future rust or electricity problems.

Any ideas, advice, guidance are welcome, no matter how obvious it might seem. Needless to say i am panicking internally.

Thanks!

Happened to me - I inadvertently touched the rear ns window switch when leaving the car, so might not be your offspring! Opened all windows, used hairdrier to get the carpets warm, put a dessicant dehumidifier in the car for a while. All good pretty quickly.

Our vax carpet cleaner worked well when i had wet floors in my old car.
Once you get the worst out, leave a caravan dehumidifier bag in the car to absorb the remainder.

I second @WonkoTheSaneUK 's idea to run a dehumidifier in the car for a few days. I had to dry out the rear of my Ford Focus which had a couple of inches of water in the boot and it worked.

Not sure if it's viable but another option is to ask your local body shop if you can put the car in their paint curing oven.
