Anyone had this just had air bag warning light coming on and off today. Got it booked in for looking at but wonder what is causing it.
MG 4 Trophy 23 plate here but it is a 1st phase one from what I can decipher from the paperwork.

Does it reset after you leave the car, lock it and return 10 minutes later?

Sometimes think MG have tried to (poorly) emulate the Telsa "Ho Ho Ho" Santa mode with the number of Christmas Tree lights the dash displays on some boot up routines.

No it wasn’t resetting it would come on again at the next journey but funny enough after checking the connectors under the seats as suggested by Ian, even though everything seemed secure when I pushed them all it hasn’t happened again.

I had booked the car in for seeing to and I am inclined to leave it booked in for them to look at it. But not sure if it will be one of those faults that will be hard to find if it’s not showing up.

We are away next week for a few days on a coach tour but we will see if it comes back up this weekend and next weekend when we will be back.

HI @KH11 - I have the same on / off problem and it is going into the dealer on Monday for a follow-up after them diagnosing a faulty clip under the driver seat. I had some success wiggling it (!!) but it stays off for a few days then comes on and off which is pretty annoying.
I was told (in my case) it definitely wasn't a safety issue and the airbag would work as normal but airbag warnings make me feel uncomfortable. Maybe try to get them to order in the new clip (apparently it's only a few quid) and then they could replace it in a single appointment?

Thanks for that I’ll give them a call today to say what I have done and your experience too and see if they will replace the clip.

An airbag warning light is an instant MOT failure. While they say it wasn't a safety issue in theory it does make the car unroadworthy.

A good point well made. Does it make a difference if there are multiple levels of warnings i.e. this is amber but red is a fail?

Mine has vanished for the last week anyway but is in the garage in the morning ?

An update on mine. I took the car in yesterday and talking to the service rep. He told me that MG had sent out a communication to the dealers regarding an Air Bag fault alarm and it did talk about a strap not being strong enough that was housed underneath the centre console.

He showed me the communication and it mentioned a particular fault code starting with a B, can’t remember the numbers quoted and it showed a picture of the strap with the solution being to fit a stronger strap. He said it was about a 2 1/2 hour job to take the centre console out replace the strap and refit.

He was saying that the fault has to be diagnosed before they could get the strap but if it was diagnosed as being the culprit they could get the strap in a couple of days as there were stocks in the UK.

As my fault had gone off since Ian mentioned about the clips underneath the seat and me checking them they would have to see if there was a fault code showing up and if it was the same code as the communication then they would order the strap and I could have it done in a couple of days or so.

There was indeed a fault code showing but it wasn’t the same code as in the communication so what they have done is done a software update on the Air Bag Control Unit and hopefully that’s done the job. But it’s always difficult when the fault is not showing. But he did say when I asked if it came on again would it be safe to drive and he said the advice is no as in the event of an accident then the air bag may not operate.

Anyway hopefully it stays off as I am hoping to head over to Chester for 3 nights next week.

They’re a nightmare with this fault. I had it intermittently on and off, sometimes it would be fine for a few days, the next trip it would be on off on off constantly. Took me several trips to the dealer to get sorted. The first trip they cleared a fault code they said was probably there from manufacture. Across the next few trips they tried replacing both front seat airbag clips.
Eventually after I lost my rag with them and threatened to hand back to finance company they took it bit more seriously and kept it in for a few days and it turned out to be resistance in the seat airbag and needed replacement. Touch wood ever since they replaced it no airbag light.
