All,

Please find attached an article I prepared on purchasing my MG ZS EV for EVA Scotland and is in this month's newsletter.

For Scottish E.V. drivers, please check out EVA Scotland, and for those of you based in the Highlands area, we're trying to start a "local" group to compare notes on charge point availability etc.

Thanks

Dave

Hi Dave,

I wish my dealer had been as forgiving as yours. I placed my order with the Edinburgh MG dealer for a Black Pearl MG ZS EV Excite (I was trying to keep the cost down at the time and didn't think the extras with the Exclusive were worth the extra £2000 and it was the Electric Drive Train I was interested in the most).

Anyway at the time of the order being placed my intention was to trade in my current car, a petrol Black Pearl MG ZS that I have just bought in Jun 19 and buy the new ZS EV on a PCP deal. I was reading at work about the first Scottish driver to take delivery of a Tesla Model 3 and read with interest that he purchased it with an interest free loan with the Energy Savings Trust (sorry guys not in Scotland, only available to Scottish Drivers). I investigated this and found that yes it was available and applied immediately on the 17th Aug 19, however due to the delay on the MG ZS EV appearing on the Office of Low Emission Vehicles (OLEV) (one of the criteria's is that the vehicle being purchased must be on this list) list I did not find out that I had been approved for the loan until nearly 2 months after this.

On acceptance of the loan I was not concerned with the extra cost involved and I contacted my dealer to inform him that I wished to cancel my order as like yourself I had sourced a cancelled order for an exclusive with another dealer. Well you would think I had murdered his Granny, and unfortunately although I could have just walked away (I even offered him to keep the £500 deposit but that didn't work) I felt soo bad that I kept the order in place. The other reason on keeping the order was that the other dealer started expressing concern on giving me the vehicle and if I did change with the Edinburgh dealer there would have been a 3 month delay which I was not prepared for as every month that passed reduced the value of my part exchange.

So long story short I now have the Excite which I am very happy with but the dealers response has left me with a bitter taste as I am sure he could have sold it easily for those who did not want to wait. I have however compensated somewhat not getting the Exclusive by putting a lot of accessories onto my car (see my showcase, "share some accessories" if you are interested. The only thing I really wanted from the Exclusive over the Excite was the Leather (not real leather I know) seats as I have a dog and dog hair and fabric seats don't mix, so the main thing I did was retrim my seats in real leather.

Anyway enjoy your car.

Regards

Frank .
