Hi all.

I recently sent an email to MG with a list of... gripes(?) and comments about my MG4 which I have had now for 4 weeks.

One of the gripes I had was that for Android Auto to work it had to be connected via a cable... however, they cam back and stated:

"Please note that android auto is supported Bluetooth for the MG4. Please visit the google android’s site for phone compatibility and how to connect. Apple play, however is only supported via a USB cable."

Has anyone got Android Auto working directly with the bluetooth in the car? I had to buy a specific Android Auto receiver... I just couldn't seem to get it to work direct?

Cheers...

I don't know what they were smoking, but the MG4 (all versions) only supports AA (and obviously CP) wired, not wireless.

They were probably getting confused by the fact that AA uses the BT connection for calls and uses the wired connection for everything else; CP uses the wired connection for everything.

That's what I thought.

I have emailed them back to ask them for more information...

Could you suggest to them that LKA on/off be added to voice commands, it avoids the dangerous practice of taking eyes of the road to de-activate on roads that are unsuitable and of course turn back on when favourable. Default on start stays on.

I can certainly ask the question, but if you take a look at my other post I made today and their reply, I'm guessing I already know the answer.

They want you to make the decision to switch it off and, I would imagine, in a physical way.

Bluetooth is not fast enough to support wireless AA. However the rather confusing help from google talks about 5GHz wifi being a requirement (but not Bluetooth), then later says you need to pair with Bluetooth.

After a rereading a couple of times and taking it in properly it seems the wireless AA is only via 5GHz WiFi to the car but you need BT on setup only, to enable the correct wifi to be found and configured correctly. It also states that you need a phone data connection, but is not clear if this is for setup or just normal operation for the live data element of AA.

I assume this means the SE can never use wireless and the Trophy too if it only supports 2.4GHz.

Wouldn't help on the SE anyway. No voice commands.
