I see Cupra have a new try before you buy offer, where you can run a Born for 100 days and give it back for a refund if you are not happy.

This must be a win win for Cupra as it helps them meet their EV sales targets (£15,000 fine for all cars under the target threshold) and gives them a pool of used stock at lower prices for all the rejected cars. Alternatively they may even get folk who keep the car.

Bit of a gimmick. Although get one for 100 days, give it back ... Then get another for a 100 days, give it back... so on and so forth. You get the idea, free motoring, brilliant!! ???

I'm sure there'll be something in the small print that your refund is reduced based on the mileage driven. ;)
Good God!

Damn near 46 Grand for a top of the range car!
Forty Bloody Six Grand for a fluffed up ID3. Fook Right Off SEAT!!!

I've read it and it works out like this...

Say you were stupid enough to lay out the full 46k at the start of the 'deal?" but decided it was shite after the 100 days.

They will charge you 100 days of wear and tear, which comes to....£1,380 of you British Pounds. (Circa 3%)

A damn site cheaper than renting one mind.

That comes to over £5 grand for the boggo model.

At those prices it would have to cock it's leg over 2 MGs.
I got a less than a year old Cupra UK registered, 970 miles on the clock Born for just under £23k, compared to the wife's trophy it's superior in every way.
Handles drives better
Materials, quality, seats better
Software better
More space.

So unless just under year old mgs, with less than 1000 miles on them are dropping to just over 11k it's not two of them and not even close.
You aren't even getting the basic SE SR for that money.

Yes a just under year old MG4 may be a bit cheaper but having expierienced both of them for the last year, I'd rather pay that little bit extra for what I've mentioned above, and that is without even bringing the shambles that is MG UK's after sales into it.

The main issue with Bowfer was that he was all over multiple threads, often started by new members, spoiling their joy in their new cars by going on about how rubbish they were, and (more seriously) strongly encouraging anyone who wasn't 100% starry-eyed about their car to reject it.

He's still doing it on Twitter.
He had a point there were some absolutely atrocious cars handed over to customers initially and if you had the experience he had and the hassle of going through a rejection you are not exactly going to sing the cars praises.
I would have recommended the same if people were struggling with cars with issues and getting no joy from dealers or MG UK.

The legal case by X power owners is another example of owners who are probably not going to be Pro MG

The MG4 (X Power excluded) main selling point was a cheap car that drove and handled well, I think the value for money bit is open to interpretation and relates to everyone's on personal expectations in relation to finances, quality of product.

I went to see if I could find him on twitter and did, although most of his debating is with the anti EV brigade The posts I saw he has made about MG are all factually correct from his circumstances point of view, he is not alone in making them.

When I am asked my opinion on EVs and the MG4 in particular I have never recommended to anyone they spend there own money on one (SE or Trophy )

I have recommended the X power (if they can be sure about the vibes) I will always add the stipulation of any issues with anything and reject it in the first 30 days) for sheer bang for buck you won't beat it, there are compromises on quality but they can be forgiven on that car, not the cheaper ones.

As you took my tongue in cheek reply re cocking a leg so literally I have to agree with you, the Cupra does seem to lose its value from new much quicker than the MG4. 😉

Which is handy as it makes a much more desirable and superior car more affordable 👍

There are cars of all makes with issues and a few early borns had them especially software related.

However there is not even a close comparison to be made between the quality of the two cabins, anyone saying different is just trying to justify their purchase of the MG4.

It is widely accepted and reported upon that the MG4 is built to a budget (it's biggest selling point) and some of the materials are low rent, seats aren't the greatest and savings had been made in that area.

Born? Yawn

Old news now, was very competitive except for price, but VW group need to seriously up their game for 2025. Speaking as an ex VW, ex Skoda owner, I would not go back with their current lineups. Too expensive and not good enough.

Born yawn?? Thats like saying MG4 shambles it's old news but we're still talking about it..

You are not an ex Cupra owner though so have zero experience of the brand, they are all made to different levels. You only need to look at the Id3 and Born interiors to see the difference in quality.

It's like comparing an Audi and a Skoda, same groups but levels.
