ZS EV Trophy
Hi. I have a 2020 ZS EV. The car was sat for 3 days and when I returned the 12V battery was dead. Unfortunately I've lost the blades from both of my keys so a car locksmith opened my door so I could pop the bonnet.

The battery was charged overnight however when I plug the battery back in, either the alarm sounds and won't be deactivated with the key or the car displays alarm triggered (with no sound).

I cant seem to deactivate it so I can try starting the car. No breakdown cover as service was more than 12 months ago.

Any suggestions?

If your car was serviced at an MG dealership, your breakdown cover is renewed. It sounds like the key fobs and the car security codes are out of sync. Best take it to a dealer (unless someone on here knows how to re-sync).

Unfortunately I've had to reschedule my service a few times so the breakdown cover had expired (until serviced again)

Although you have charged the battery overnight, are you sure it has accepted any of that charge ?.
It could be completely useless.
Can you get it tested locally ?.
How did you mange to loose BOTH emergency keys ? ?????.

More worryingly, if you have not had the car serviced within the recommended mileage or timescale, you have voided your warranty.

just guessing - it could be that whatever the locksmith did caused the car to think it was stolen ... try emailing or calling MG customer centre to see if they can disable the alarm remotely ...

the only other thing I can think of to try is to place the key fob on the key point (don't know where it is on your model, on my 2022 it's in one of the cup holders) and try to start the car...

My kids figured out how to open the keys... unfortunately.

The battery has accepted the charge as the dashboard etc was lit up. I'll see if I can find someone to come and test the battery.
