MG4 Comfort
Hello,

I have the MG4 Comfort. A couple of weeks ago I took it to its first annual manteinance/software updates. However, since then, the car charges up to 100% no matter what (selecting 60%, 80%, 90%, 100% in the app or in the car). It seems that something is not working properly:

1. In the app, I get the same "time until charged" either if the battery level target is set to 80%, 100% or 60%.
2. In the car, in the battery menu of the infotainment screen, I get the same range (500 km / 300 mi) if I select the target level to 60%, 80% or 100% (and that range should apply only to 100%).

Before taking it for the updates I had no issue with the battery level target. My MPU version is R16 and the MCU version is 69.1.1.1.

I asked where I got the update, but they have not given me a solution. Any help would be great!

I have the SE SR (MG4 Standard?) and these are my software levels:

Yours are quite far out of date, although this is for Infotainment only so there's no automatic right to an update of this (at least not in the UK).

I can't comment re. target charge levels though as my version doesn't support that anyway.

Thank you very much, siteguru! This is something that intrigues me, since I was expecting that they would install the latest stable version, but now it seems that R16 might be quite old. Unfortunately, I was not clever enough to check which version I had installed prior to the "update".

R16 is old ... there was an R21 prior to the latest R33. (Mine was on R13, and went to R33 at the first service last November).

Thank you very much, I will take it to the repair garage tomorrow. Any further insights into which version should I have installed in my Comfort version? R16 seems old, but I don't know if that has something to do with the charging level target software or whether it is just related to the infotainment screen.

1100Rxx is only related to the Infotainment software .. modules firmwares (for the different systems) are different again.

In theory your car should have all the latest updates that are available for it, but sometimes dealers just look on the MG system based on your car's VIN rather than actually plugging a laptop into the car and running MG's software checker - the latter often picks up updates that the former misses.

Yes, this is a bug that can happen when you get some updates. There are patches to fix this that the dealer should be able to supply but they'll probably want to diagnose it themselves first.
