I have frequent but irregular disconnects between the car (MG4 Essence) and my iPhone (11). I have had to pair the phone to the car on about a monthly basis. The only way to successfully pair it again is to delete the car from the iPhone Bluetooth settings (forget this device) then start again. The car then connects to the phone, syncs contacts etc and all is good. However, sometime in the next 2-4weeks it will randomly disconnect and I have to go through the entire process again. This has never happened with my 2016 model VW Golf or my similar age BMW X3. Very frustrating!

It's your infotainment software that needs to be updated. Mine is the same with my android phone. I got a wi-fi adapter which has helped but it still disconnects occasionally. My auto hold doesn't work, so that may be my excuse to try and get it updated at the same point.

Thanks, my local dealer reckons there is no Infotainment upgrade available, since the car is only 12 months old.
They probably mean there is no FREE upgrade... but if you are reporting a problem that you need fixed under warranty, they should be able to upgrade.

Asking for updates rarely works. Insisting problems are investigated and resolved somehow seems to be the way to do it.

Which infotainment version do you have?

Aussie versions are not the same as our UK/EU versions. R05 is what I've seen mentioned for Aussie SE cars.

@MDWMG, have you read this thread? As per my post a few posts back I just plug in my Android phone and the connection is re-paired with the last settings. Note, you may have to delete previous connections.

@Martinonline, thank you - yes I had read this thread (also the Software Update thread and the Diagnostic thread - they all have posts referencing the Bluetooth connection issue) but I hadn't followed up on your suggestion.

I collected my Trophy ER, new, in September; the software it came with was well behind the latest versions - it had Infotainment version 1300r40. Bluetooth worked OK, most of the time, but every so often the car would forget paired devices. Of course, what happens is you get in the car, start driving, get an incoming call, and realise the phone is ringing, in your pocket, not connected, and can't be answered!

This used to happen about every 7-10 days. Comments on this forum suggested it was an issue associated with the Infotainment software version, so I requested that be updated under warranty, along with other software modules. The updates were done a couple of weeks ago, and I now have 1300r63 Infotainment software - the latest UK version. Since then the car forgets my phone nearly every day!

Every time it is paired, the phone creates a new connection with the same name. There is no way of telling which is the most recent one, so if I find two or more listed I delete them all before re-pairing.

I haven't used Android Auto, so never connected it by usb. Next time it forgets the connection (probably tomorrow!) I'll try your suggestion of plugging it in.

My Bluetooth connection worked perfectly this morning but when I got in this afternoon my phone pinged with a Bluetooth pairing request. I plugged in and AA opened and then the Bluetooth link re-established itself. I don't normally use Bluetooth and AA and discovered this process by accident.

EDIT: In the above case I just press the home button after AA comes up.
