I was thinking of switching to BRSK for my broadband. I'm not a heavy user, the most is probably UHD streaming to the TV so the 150 sounds like it will be fine to me - double my current FTC connection, and symmetrical.

The only downside I can see is they charge £5 a month for a fixed IP which is bit rich, my current provider charged a £5 one off fee. They just have to add the reservation to list once and that's it!

If I do switch, anyone got a referral code they could share?

I'd never heard of them. Just checked and they're not available in my area.

Do you need a fixed IP address? Chances are any dynamic IP address will be "fixed" anyway - even after rebooting the modem. (Telco systems tend to map a device MAC address to an IP address as it makes it easier to manage routing).

In my area one of the main options is Trooli, with whom I've just enquired. They have a sales offer at the moment of £29.99 per month (usually £34.99) for a 500mbps symmetrical connection, fixed for 2 years. They'll also discount the first few months to £1 per month to offset any contract termination charge you may have if you're ending a current contract early (but near the end - my current BT contract expires in January for example). With them they are broadband only, so you'd either need to continue with a line rental with BT, or lose your landline number. Something maybe to consider with BRSK.

We've talked about the landline and decided that the only calls we get on it are nuisance calls so it will be no loss.

And yes, ideally I need a fixed IP as I host various servers at home that are publicly available.

FWIW Trooli also offered a fixed IP for £5 per month, so it seems like this is a common charge.

Just how much speed do we need ?
I have managed to stream 4K, download 'stuff' plus normal household usage all at the same time on 36mb connection. No problems at all.
Requirements for WFH was a mere 2mb, Netflix and Prime only need 5mb for HD.
So I reckon for most families with even 2 kids streaming games it would be fine. It was when my grandkids demanded it.
4K requires more around 25mb but I've never had any problems.
I've been with Sky for BB for ages, all good, but come the last ritual renewal dance, my 36mb was ridiculously priced, 63mb was cheaper but 150 full fibre was the same as the 63mb, so after a bit more dancing went for the 150 a bit cheaper than initial offer.
Go figure.

Well I switched and got their 500 Mbps service with fixed IP for a couple of quid less than my old ADSL broadband. I actually get 528 up and down. Plus I have IPv6 fully working too.

I have a referral link/code if anybody else oop north thinks of trying them.
