MG4 Trophy LR
Hello everyone. I’ve had my tango now almost 2 years. I took it in for upgrade to R59 last week and all went well.
The salesman tried to interest me in upgrading to an XPower.
Financially I am tempted as it isn’t much dearer monthly and will eliminate my negative equity from the trophy.
If you’ve done this, would you consider it a good move or not ?
Cheers.

It all depends on the figures so hard to tell really with this info. What's the neg on your car and what did they value it at, what have they knocked off the car and what's the monthly difference?

No doubt you'll enjoy the extra power but it's really what the value is to you to get out of yours and into something new with more power, that will differ person to person.

I am currently looking at owing about £6k more than it’s worth. 2 years to go on my pcp with a value of £16k, add to that about another £3k excess mileage payment.
New car is just over £100 per month more on the new xpower than the tango but 4 years to pay. End value is £11k. I’m almost convinced.

Is the mileage per year the same on the new offer? Sounds a decent option but I'd definitely try to get them to knock the mileage up by 1-2k to save mileage issue again for the same monthly figure. If you're ready to go ahead if you tell them you'll deal if they do that, it being the last 10 days of the quarter is the best time to squeeze a little more out of them

Given you know the model, have you driven an Xpower to take that into account?

I love my X power ( before i start to comment on what is wrong over the stock LR version )

range range and range the X power is not economical in the sense of it you can drive in eco which helps but why when it basically makes it a heavier less ranged standard MG4 ( not including the LR version) then why buy it its almost pointless to have 320kW when eco mode drops it down to 170kW or stock MG4 power !!

Upsides are purely a 1 or 2 trick pony yes CRAZY FAST might handle a bit better maybe i dont know ive never driven a stock MG4 every thing else is pretty much the same !!

So my advice is if your simple minded like me who basically loves to drag everything off at the lights and doesnt car about range then sure buy a X power you wont regret it !!

BUT

If you want a cheaper way more economical MG4 then stick with another LR it will serve its purpose and cost less in many ways !!

It will depend on personal circumstances for me when I test drove the XPower against an ER I noticed that firmer suspension in the XPower resulted in less rolling about.

Expect to get 170 to 180 mile range in the Winter from a full charge and make sure you are happy with 2.8 - 3.2 miles per kW efficiency if you are going to drive it as a GTi/Sporty hatch.

I did it. Signed up for it today and can collect it Friday. Probably nobody will notice the differences with the number plate being the same !!!
Aston Martin Vanquish is top of my personal leader board for other cars left wondering what that was. All within NSL in case anyone concerned ☮️
