Charging cable won’t lock after using manual release - MG5

I had to use the manual charger release cable (under the plastic bonnet cover) when a public charger wouldn’t stop charging. Since then, the charging cable won’t stay locked in, so I can’t charge at all.

I can hear it locking and then unlocking so my guess is that I need to reset the manual release somehow? The cable is pretty much back in its sheath so it’s not obvious how to do that.

Does the flap lock shut?

I took it to a garage and they tested everything but couldn’t find the problem. Whilst they were investigating they hit it with a hammer to see if it would jolt things back and that seemed to work. It’s been working fine since.

Hahaha. That's a great use of percussive maintenance.

I have to confirm that today, after a lot of flustration about 100 miles away from home and only 10% charge left in the battery, the perkusive maintenance solved the issue.
With the CCS cable connected in I gave it a "light" tap and the familiar noise of an engaging locking mechanism was heard. Saved the day.
