Hello peeps. We are on day 2 of owning our very first EV (MG5) and have finally gotten around to plugging it in to charge. So the questions are;

1. In the MGiSmart app I’ve set scheduled charging to occur between 2331 to 0529 to take advantage of octopus cheaper rate.

BUUUUUUUT once I’ve hit SAVE is that all I do or do I also have to hit the START CHARGING button on the charge management screen??

2. Or is it better to set up a charge schedule on the OHME home pro app?

If I go in to the ADD NEW SCHEDULE screen nothing makes sense?!?

How do I start charging at 2330hrs and finish at 0530 hours as there is nothing in the schedule that allows me to start and stop charging based on time??

Many thanks for your help ??

The ohme doesn't need a start and finish time as such, you just need to put in a time you want it to finish by.
Because MG doesn't interact fully with the ohme you need to enter a percentage you want it to charge by, not too.
So if you are sitting at say 40% and you want to charge to 80% say you need to estimate the amount of battery that needs charged and add that percentage.

My MG5 doesn't have the ismart app. I have the Ohme app set to only charge if the price is below 8p per Kw and plug the car in, lock it up and it charges up between 00.30 and 04.30, my Octopus Go times. It takes 2 nights to charge from 15% to full, around 30Kw a session.

Unfortunately if your on octopus intelligent it tells you not to set a price cap, you need to leave it above your max rate.

It would all be a lot easier if MG supplied ohme with the API and then it would be fully integrated.
I have that with my Megane, gives the SOC, set the percentage, preconditioning heating/battery etc all from the ohme app.

Right, so I’ve managed to set my car to charge only between 1130 and 530 on the app, then checked the charging schedule on the car and it matches.

Not terribly intuitive but it seems to work ??

The Ohme app could be a lot more useful if you could set a start and stop time to take advantage of cheap charging at home but there you go I guess ?‍♀️

You don't set a start and stop time on the ohme app if you're on intelligent
