Charging whilst in the car

When I am DC charging and I press the brake and start button the car goes into "READY" mode but does not display READY on the dashboard. All other indicators of being in READY mode are there e.g. the 12v battery gauge showing 14v etc.

Haven't tried to move the car.....for obvious reasons!
Oh come on Jamsie - it'll be a laugh! :ROFLMAO: ;)

Seriously, I did try mines - with the intention of slamming on the brake if I moved but you can imagine my relief when nothing happened! ? Phew!

Mine has the comfort 2 update and if i sit in and lock the doors using the door control, I hear the charging plug lock engage and the car display goes to charging.

I think it might be a bit pointless with either car in on or ready mode and using stuff that’s powered,

I know what ready mode is, and no I'm not confusing it with anything else. Try it.
On my car, ready mode is when it shows a permanent ready on the dash between the speed and efficiency dials at the bottom which means you can drive off, 0ne press on the start button is an accessory mode second press takes you into high voltage battery mode where it powers on to allow you to use the A/C and other high voltage items it will also keep the 12v battery charged while using the 12v accessories, if your car goes into ready mode ( foot on brake press start button green ready light appears on dash at bottom), when you are charging the car then there is a serious issue with your car and you should have it checked ASAP

Hi Dave - I can go into Ready mode (foot on the brake and pressing Start) and the dash will come up with a message warning me I'm still connected but it will not allow me to 'move' (i.e. nothing happens if I then press the accelerater - good thing really as I'd undoubtedly be driving down the road at some point with a Type 2 cable dragging from the front of the car! :ROFLMAO: ).

Bloggsy, it is warning you that you have tried to put the car into the ready mode, it won't show-ready in green on the dash between dials at the bottom, that is the only time the car is actually in the ready mode, it is giving you this warning to help you understand why you can't drive off, if you can see the green word ready in the dash between the dials and charging when you do this then it is an issue. The only time the green word ready stays on in the dash ( between the speedo and efficiency dials is when you press the brake and press the start button, the button only needs to be pressed once with foot on the brake you can then drive off and the word ready in green writing remains in between the dials for the rest of the journey. Next time you are charging and you press the brake and hit the button and the green word ready is on between the dials and stays on let me know please, you should find it reverted to the HV accessory mode you then have to switch off the car before you can remove the cable and then drive off remembering to close the charge flap???
