Just completed over 15,000 miles in 12 months in my 23 plate HS PHEV. Car parked on my driveway, I stepped into the driver's seat, closed the door, only to watch and hear the side window craze and shatter, for no obvious reason. No sign of attempted forced entry, though the crazing starts from the bottom left of the window. Possibly a manufacturing defect? Not covered by MG Warranty of course. Auto Windscreens was the insurance companies 'go-to' repairer, but I was dreading the time delay in them sourcing the glass. In the event, no problem, the new glass arrived next day and was fitted in 30 minutes on the driveway the following day. So not all MG parts are difficult to source.

Good to hear that it was solved quickly at least.
I had a side window break many years ago on a Nissan and the glass was not immediately available. They just cut a sheet of perspex to size and fitted it as a temporary repair. Other than not being able to open the window, it worked just fine till the proper glass was fitted.

I've seen this with Pub Pint Glasses.

You could drop it on the floor and it wouldn't break.
Pop it on the bar only for it to shatter into a million pieces 5 minutes later.

That window has (probably) suffered a minor trauma at some point, tiny stone chip possibly or a tiny manufacturing defect maybe.

Lots of shutting the door later and it just fails.

You shutting your door was just the final straw!

Good to hear it was sorted quickly.
