I notice something today and I'm not sure whether it's a feature or just coincidence.

I was close to a wall behind the car and changed from park to reverse, it didn't creep as I released the break. I had to press the accelerator gently to inch backwards.

I'm wondering whether it uses the rear radar to stop you from reversing into an obstacle accidentally.

Is this something anyone else has experienced?

My drive is on a slope and I have to reverse onto the road. I always have to press the accelerator to reverse and if I touch the brake slightly, to check for any passing cars, then I needto press it again.

That will be the Hill Start Assist feature. That could be what I experienced but my slope is very slight.

Hill start only holds for 2 seconds. If it's holding for longer I think you may have Auto Hold on.
The car doesn't have rear radar, just ultrasonic sensors coupled to a beeper (and the display), it won't stop you reversing into a wall, but it will scream at you as you get within 30cm of it.
