I was DELIVERED my MG3 yesterday.

A lot of things to assimilate in order to "tame" this new car.

The first thing that puzzles me is the car's alarm system when it's parked at home.
How exactly do I do this?
Is there a flashing red light on the dashboard to indicate that the alarm has been activated?
Thank you in advance for your answers.

Sorry Italy,
I can't help you there, as my car has an immobilizer fitted, but no alarm.

As far as I know, the car alarm and immobiliser are both armed when the doors are locked, and disarmed when the car is unlocked, just like on most other cars, I've never seen or heard anything to the contrary.

Thank you MG clive

Do you know if there is a small flashing red light on the dashboard which indicates that the car is alarmed?

It's a shame, because it's a deterrent!

Another recent experience:

I've got the keys in my pocket and I've locked all the doors.

I forgot to put a bag back in the boot, so I go in, key in pocket, and open the tailgate with ease.

I close the tailgate.

A few minutes later I've forgotten something else in the boot.

I try the same thing but....the tailgate refuses to open despite the keys in my pocket.

I had to unlock the doors using the button on the driver's door.

Weird, isn't it?

You need to hold down the boot release on the fob until you see the boot pop open. It takes a few seconds.

I know it should, but it seems to be that when it was initially opened and then closed, it went off the system for some reason. I had similar issues with a Renault with keyless entry. Sometimes it had a mind of its own

Yes but....it was a Renault...?? that explains everything doesn't it?

Yes, we agree, MG clive!

Can anyone try the same experiment?

Funny enough, apart from that, it never gave a moment of trouble. Similarly, I had a Dacia Logan for a few years and never had an issue with it. The tailgate on it wasn't even connected to the central locking so it couldn't play up. The Peugeot Partner Tepee, I had before, was a different matter, but that was more down to the dealer.

I can't get mine to fail mate, tried it about 6 or 7 times, from a few seconds in between, up to a couple of minutes. That's with the key in my front trouser pocket, walk to the back of the car, and press the button under the tailgate handle and lift.

Hello

I've had the same problem, in fact when the car is closed, you can only open the boot once without the key. However, if afterwards (the car is still closed) you unlock it a second time with the key, I can unlock the boot as many times as I like without the key.

Is this a special security feature? I don't know how to answer that

Glad Tchoa almost you have the same problem as me.

Is this typical of Mg3 from France? Or a bug following a recent update compared to the MG3 with right-hand steering wheel?

Thanks for the tip.
