About a year ago, I moved from EDF (using the 4.5p offpeak deal from 2 years earlier) to Octopus. With EDF I had a standard, Direct Debit Monthly Whole Amount in that I paid the exact amount of energy I used each month (which was automatically read from my smart meter) via direct debit 14 days or so later. This is how it worked 30-40 years ago with BT, my main electric / oil/ company, in that every 3 months I got a bill, and it was paid via cash, cheque etc at the bank. In recent times, at least with octopus, they dont seem to have a clue what Im asking for (they can only spread the payments at some sort of average over 12 months). So the question is, has anyone managed to get standard whole amount direct debit, and from which company for electric, so me it just seem such as standard thing, in that you receive a bill, and 14 days later its automatically paid
