Does Intelligent Speed Limiter (TSR) disable regeneration

Don't worry about it mate, I'm still waiting for a reply from them.
Just received a reply this evening -

Good afternoon,

Thank you for contacting MG Motors UK. I am sorry to hear of your recent experience.

Unfortunately, I’ll be unable to correct anything for you as you will need to get your vehicle booked in with your local MG dealership.

They should be able to assist you regarding the issue you are currently facing.

I have an update, I eventually got my car in to the local dealer on 5th December, I had to go out with the Master Technician to dhis him what was happening as he was looking at the wrong thing, he said he would have to ring MG technical and come back to me. I rang again today and was told they are still waiting for them to come back to them, they admitted that they are very slow. I've seen other reports here where cars HSBC been stuck in dealers for weeks with faults that need MG to come back to them, I thought they were kidding, obviously not. Very worrying, especially as when I booked this in November they gave me a date at the end of January to see it, until I complained and mentioned I was in the market fir another car (I think the salesman git involved at that point). It is well known in the car industry that Sales sell the first vehicle but Service sell the second, age this rate they have no chance.

Well I have been away for 5 days and a real mixture of driving and I found it a joy. The engine comes in more on motorways because no regeneration is taking place, and when accelerating faster than you do on minor roads, but I didn't find any noise problems that somd have said on the forum and I certainly can't agree that a Fiesta diesel is quieter. I think any intrusive noise is only a perception because when it is on electric power it is so quiet. There are a lot of things that could do with smoothing out with software glitches, perhaps the heating was the weirdest experience where after 30.minutes it suddenly hit very high or very cold and I couldn't pin it down to anything specific such as engine cutting in or visa versa. The only other thing is that we had a 2.5 hour drive home plus a further hour in an accident delay and we found the seats were very uncomfortable after 2 hours. Still impressed for a car this size with what it offers you
Hi ptw,
Do you have the email address for MG UK customer service, I've tried several variations of what I thought it would be without success! Not really getting anywhere with my dealer.
Thanks,
Steve

Here is an update on the regeneration problem. Back in October when I raised this on the forum, MG customer service emailed me to confirm that the ISL has no impact on brake regeneration. When I told them it was on my car they told me to take it inot a dealer for investigation.

I took it in on 5th Decemeber 2024 and had to go out with a Master Technician to show waht was happening, he ssid that there was some regenration occuring but at a very low level and not what it should be. He told me he would submit a report called a "Snowflake" to MG Technical. I chased this several times for an update. On Janaury 2nd I was told that the Master Technician had moved to another dealership and the administrator who looked after the claims had also left and they could not access the records to find out what was happening! I raised a formal complaint and after meeting with the After Sales Manager for the group I found that there appeared that nothing had been done at all!

So, we started again, same thing I went out with a new Master Technician on 31st janauary 2025 and discussed the problem with the Service Manager. A "Snowflake" report was sent to MG Tecnnical. I finally got a reply from the After Sales manager today 26th February (some 3 months after raising this isssue) - initially he provided details by a phone call to me, which I then asked to be confirmed by email in which he put this: I can confirm we spoke to MG Technical raising your concern with your vehicle, they stated that from what we told them there were no known issues with this concern & were no updates available for your vehicle. We roadtested one of our new car demonstrators and the vehicle behaved in exactly the same manner as yours does so therefore it seems this is normal working operation of your vehicle, (however as discussed we will monitor the situation with other cars coming through the workshop and if anything becomes apparent that there is a fault or any updates available then we will be in touch).

I queried this as follows: Thanks for the information. I thought MG Technical told you that the very low brake regeneration when using the Intelligent Speed Assist that the reduction in the system's functionality was due to the inherent limitations or constraints that define how it operates in that specific mode. Is that correct? He responded: Yes, that is correct. I queried why customer services had told me it should regenerate normally, yet now MG Technical are saying that is the limitation when in the ISL mode - remember I originally said that if the latter was the case then ISL was worthless. All he said was that they were not as informed as the Technical people - well they should be and I think cusotmer service would rightly be a little miffed if this was known to them.

One last thing I am going to do is contact MG customer service again and ask them to confirm what the dealer has told me - in other words that I am not being fobbed off and if it is true then why was I misled and have to make several dealer visits because of their misinformation. Lets see what happens.
