A heat pump is an air conditioner that can be reversed (so it provides heat instead of cold). Much more efficient way of heating the cabin compared to the current solution (resistive heating, essentially a fan heater) but can cause problems in cold weather climates (which the UK isn't)As the title says. What is a heat pump and what does it do?
Does the SE model have one?
Funny thing is it's a bit of a scam really. The car already has an AC system, and theres not that much difference between an A/C and heat pump (Mainly just a reversing valve and a inverter compressor)The VW group offered a heat pump as an option on their e.Golf.
The cost was about £1,200 to include it, if I remember correctly ?.
So, not a cheap option at all !.
