Well all I’m in the lakes on holiday at the moment and when it goes dark here it goes very very dark indeed and I cannot believe how good the headlights are on the wife’s 4 SR are, also the auto dip/main beam is fantastic never seen any car with lights of this quality, my lads here as well with his Tesla Model X and his wife’s parents as well in a Citroen C4 but the MG4 SR lights are better than both of them, the only thing that is not the best I have seen is the reversing lights in these conditions of total yes total blackness at times they could be better perhaps a bit small to be of any use.

Is it not the case that some designed the reversing light just as an indicator rather than an illuminator. I seem to recall some with just one reversing light in days gone by...or is it just me?

Totally agree Allan but these are poor, my 5 was much better in this area. But the headlights weren’t as good at all but I found them OK just.

So it's a bit swings and roundabouts Les. I wonder if they think sensors and cameras are a substitute for brightness? Hey ho it is what it is....unless they can be replaced with brighter bulbs? as Gem10 states

There's a video on YouTube of an MG ZS EV owner changing the reversing bulbs back to filament from LED as although the LEDs were brighter they project the light sideways instead of forward.

Yeh thanks Ian I remember watching that Video about 12-18 months ago it’s the chap from gogreen autos. He too was trying to improve the reversing lights and found LEDs where worse than halogen so he took them back out.
So Gem10 is correct in saying the reversing lamps or halogen W21W 21W in the MG4
I wrongly thought they where LEDs and on check in the online manual Gem10 is dead right.

So I looked at the MG5 manual LR 2020 and it says the MG5 bulbs are also halogen W16W 16watts !!
The ZS MK2 and the HS are the same as the 5 above
The MG3 has LEDs
Les.

Are these the correct fitment?…

…wondering if they would be better. Seems to suggest that the light has a better spread than normal led.
