My first impressions of the MGZSEV.
I'm a bit disappointed with the dealership where I bought the car from, immediately the moment I signed for the car they lost interest in me and I feel quite let down with them. No serious issues just a lack of information and explanation regarding the purchase and follow up. No instruction manual, service document or advise on how to set the car up with things like the MG ismart software. Anyway this does not detract from my enjoyment of the car.
I picked up a 72 plate Trophy Connect last Friday and drove it 100 miles home. After playing with the charger that night it was fully charged in the morning and we then drove 70 miles or so to Scarborough for the night and then on the Sunday back home a different route of about 100 miles. Monday into work and back home and then I plugged it in that night to charge it up again.
This is when I fell fowl of the max charge setting that some of you have posted about, I set it to 80% but not taking into account the 30% in there already when I came to the car the next morning it was fully charged again to 100%
.
Lesson learnt and next time do the Maths. I was still on the Flexible tariff from Octopus because I struggled to pair the charger to Octopus but on my last charge last nigh I followed the instructions for the third time and finally set up the charger to Intelligent Octopus Go, so that is one more thing sorted out.
The car drives and responds great, I'm getting used to the quirks of Eco, Normal or Sport and KERS 1,2 & 3
and I'm genuinely enjoying owning it and driving it.
I can't connect with ismart but that is a First World problem in the big scheme of things.
I have been discussing the car with colleagues in the office and as explained to them I can't see any reasons why I would ever go back to a normal Diesel/Petrol car and even if for some catastrophic reason this car is not the one I'll keep I would definitely get another MGZS, it ticks nearly every box on my required list for a new car.
One minor niggle would be the storage in the front, I thought there was poor storage in the Insignia but there is less in the MGZS I have no real place to put small things like glasses, pens and such. There is the glove box and the centre console but they missed the opportunity to put a storage near my right Knee.
The learning continues
