First oil change

Hi folks
Did you get guys any information about the first oil change intervals?
The salesman said don't need to worry until 15k miles
I've just told him that if I running 15k with the factory oil, the car engine will be die...
I've just read that, someone doing the first oil change after 1000 miles, as the engine break- in period will comes with metal pieces... So definitely worth to change it after few thousand miles?

That might have been sound advice 40 years ago but it's unnecessary today.

My MG service plan is service every 12 months.
If I were a high mileage motorist I would pay for a 6 monthly oil and filter change as an extra.
With past makes of car the normal to me is every 12 month or 12k miles whichever comes sooner, so your recommendation is in line with what I have done in the past.
I thought the first oil/filter change at say 500 or 1000miles was long gone.

1,000 mile services are long gone now TBH.
On a new car today, the first oil change is at 12 months or between 10 and 12,000 miles, which ever arrives first.
Some manufacturers even stretch out until 2 years for their first service !.
This type of service intervals are regarded as “Long Life Services” schedules,

As stated on the MG Website, all current models are a 1 year or 15,000 mile service interval, whichever comes first
