How do you set a new 4 digit security code for the ismart app?
I thought I'd used an easy to remember number! obviously not so.
Doesn't look like I've recorded it anywhere either.
So does anybody know the recovery procedure please?

Have you tried uninstalling the app, it will have to be re-installed and then bind it again, it should have to go through the whole procedure again I think allowing a new code, I use a birthday for stuff like that.

This is an assumption not had our MG3 Hybrid+ long enough and it won't work on ours anyway

Uninstalling the app doesn't change anything in respect of the account. This would only help if the PIN code is only stored locally on the device.

No need for the old pin to set a new one. You just have to be logged in.

I just changed mine in the app and I tested by doing an unlock from the app with the new pin.

Goto settings, security settings, PIN code.
Your vin and phone number should be filled in.
Press send
Get code from received sms message
Enter new PIN
Press save
I think it responded with success.

Not sure it makes any difference, but I have not updated my app to the very latest yet and I originally registered with just the phone number.

The car has an eSIM built into it, that communicates via mobile data with MG servers.

If the app is on the boss' phone and they use it, it will log you out. (When you login you'll log them out). The same login details will need to be used for both devices.

Ugh, my head hurts, can I take the car back now :D :D :D

Boss will never use the app so do I need to install it or can I just leave it as just me but still find the car, she's a bit of a technophobe (Like me for now) she would ring me to find where she left the car, she's not dumb just doesn't do tech well.

Is this worth installing?

I like it, I can check state of charge from a distance, this can be very handy if there's an overstay penalty.
It can do other things too, like starting the AC before you get in.
And yes the boss can check where you are, and estimate when you'll be home.
But why do you need it on both phones if she doesn't use it?

I was meaning does she have it on her phone for it to work, I know I don't now.

It's a miracle if she ever answers or responds to a text, I turned it off once and it was four days before she missed it, she never checks it either.

I don't understand, Without it on a phone there's no point.

You only need it on one phone. The one you're going to use.
I suggest you download it to your phone.

The MG4 also has a built in GPS so in theory if it is parked somewhere out of cellular range and you are somewhere with your phone & iSmart app within cellular range the Find my car option should still work OK. Other things like SOC and turning the heating or aircon on may not work.

Getting confused.

So long as I (me) can see where the car is with the app just on my phone then I'm happy, She would never use it anyway, my question was did she need to have it on her phone too, to see where the car was, I am now aware she doesn't, so I'll just put it on mine.

The app is on my phone and has been since before we bought the car, but it still isn't binding or working, I'm going to the dealer today to hopefully sort that and other issues out.

Lots of little things getting in the way.

Having a forum is all well and good but some well produced and clearly narrated videos would go down well.

The Jerry Pan stuff is not too bad but I have to slow it down to 0.75% to get near to understanding him and his focus isn't the best, but there isn't much else out there above test drives and reviews.

It is a much more complex car than we need to be honest, but I will master the bugger eventually.

You can't beat a good knob or a switch.

Figuring out what all the functions does takes a while and then remembering them all takes a while longer. Then it is applying these things to your own driving style and that takes a lot longer. Eventually you settle on a bunch of settings you think work for you.

At this stage you generally stop experimenting and just drive the car.

Then after several thousand km and some long trips you go back and get in to things in more detail and start analysing the different functions.

For example using Regen at different levels and OPD.

Then you go back to just driving the car.

This is what I have done anyway after nearly 11 months and 15,000 km. I don't bother turning LKA off any more and just drive more accurately in the centre of the lane & I've not noticed any better economy when turning all the Eco features on compared to doing nothing and driving in Normal mode.

Under certain conditions of road surface, weather, traffic, etc I'll choose specific settings but on my day to day driving I get in and go without setting anything.
