I wanted to share my experience with the July 2024 build of the MG4 X Power. One thing I’ve noticed is a more audible noise from the front gearbox. While this noise was only very minor in the older version, it becomes more noticeable after extended driving in the newer model. The sound resembles the whine of a dry differential and is present under acceleration but absent during deceleration. Switching to eco mode, which engages only the rear motor, eliminates the noise. I’m not sure if others are experiencing this issue, but it’s something I’ve observed.

There is a whine from front motor under acceleration, i hear it and would class mine as a ‘normal characteristic’ 😉.

I like it personally, thats if we are talking about the noise you have.

Yes, it sounds very much like a straight cut gearbox, sounds tough and well engineered, however in my old leaf, I was pushing out 160 kW through the front wheel, it was whisper quiet. , you also found in other four-wheel-drive high-performance ev cars this sound doesn't exist. My earlier expower was slightly quieter than this one in regards to the whine.

I still have a Leaf 30 kWh and had a 40kWh for 18 months also, i will agree that the drive on the Leaf is quiet, in fact the X Power is quite noisy in general but i partly suspect the stock tyres.

Mine does it too, and like others, I assume it's the noise from the front motor. I like it - it's more spooky to get that amount of thrust in absolute silence 😆
