So here in 2025, if we come across an RS2000, Integrale, XR2, or even an Allegro that's been sat in a barn for 45 years, the chances are it'll be restored to it's former glory, and proudly shown off at Classic Car Shows.

We're obviously only in the first phase of electric vehicles, and there will be hundreds more to come in the future, but what will be a future Electric Classic ?

Will it be a Toyota Prius, Nissan Leaf, or a Tesla . . . . probably not, I don't see somebody coming across a 40 year old Tesla in a barn and thinking it's worth restoring, but you never know?

Could the Ioniq 5N, ID Buzz, or my favourite, the MG XPower be among the contenders, what do you think?

Now I like a bit of nostalgia as much as the next man but why do we call these classics ? They were just cars at the time. The only reason we look back to them with fondness is to recapture memories of our younger selves.
This is obviously just my opinion but they are museum pieces at best as physical documentation of the evolution of motoring.
They might be nice to look at and remember but there is no way I would swap what I have now for any 'classic'.
:)

The Ford RS marque is something I'd drool over as a teenager and only in my wildest dreams did I think I'd ever actually own one. If you can say the same about any current EV it might one day become a classic but I wouldn't hold my breath.

I had a similarly themed post 14 months back , future modern classics, absolutely. A car you can turn off features which will one day be compulsory, a car you can steer yourself? Oh yes please. Society will move on in its sheep like obedience nature but the black sheep will always exist and find a way.
