Gen 1 v Gen 2

Hi

I'm looking at purchasing a used MG ZS EV, I don't really do long journeys, commute is approximately 20 mile round trip, have only done 1 round trip of over 125 miles in the last 2 years so range is not an issue for me.

I was looking at a 2021 Exclusive option, the 2022 Gen 2 version is about 5k more expensive. Outside of better range which I don't really need, is there anything I'd really miss by getting a Gen 1 version and in my circumstance do you think the 5k extra is worth it?

I have the ZS EV gen 1. Great car, I can't compare as I don't have or driven the Gen 2

Range in summer is roughly 150 miles, depending on conditions, as usual. In winter, now, the range is reduced to about 120 miles. Gadget wise, the GPS and Navigation works well, a little slow to boot up, but always gets me there. Radar brakes system works well. Comfortable, and cheap to run if you have a home charger. Mine is 4 years old now, 39,000 miles. Only just changed the front tyres, the back will last at least another year, probably two...

The gen 2 has the app which allows for remote heating and many other useful features. Just something to consider.

Gen 2 has some better features but my experiance is that the Gen 1 was better quality.

I find the front of the gen1 much better looking than the gen2. Also some items like the wheels and lack of pano roof on gen2 are inferior.

if the range is not an issue, you happy with Gen 1 and you don't have any special requirements in addition to what you get in Gen 1, , save the money and go for the cheaper one. They should be less than £10K

make sure it's got full annual MG service record

A bit late to the party but gen 1 only has manual aircon and not very responsive infotainment as compared to the better (but not great) infotainment in the 2nd gen and gen 2 has climate control...Albeit still no heatpump in either one.
