So far the lowest I've run my car is to 44miles remaining range and then I've charged it up again (only had the car for few days...).

Just want to check how much can I trust GOM below the 40miles remaining range, does it go down linear reflecting real use or will it suddenly drop from say 30 miles remaining to 12 miles remaining and share the **** out of me !

I’ve run mine down quite low a few times.

Here's the state of charge as per the 8-bar gauge:
8 : 91-100%
7 : 80-91%
6 : 69-80%
5 : 58-69%
4 : 47-58%
3 : 36-47%
2 : 25-36%
1 : <25% (HV battery light comes on)

HV battery light starts flashing at 10% and will warn about aggressive driving. I believe it stops flashing and disappears at 5%.

The GoM turns to --- at 10 miles

That's great info @Mike
What mode were you on when GoM goes to "---"
...wondering if that 10miles is in the "Normal" mode or "Eco" mode.

I've got mine down to 30 and 36 miles remaining but was near home on both occasions. I would definately need my big boy pants if I was further from home!

Similar to Mark I got mine down to 10 miles in Eco mode and the --- appeared, I drove only a couple more miles and 45 mins plugged in on the granny (7% left according to the dash) to give me enough range to get back the 10 miles to ours from my folks house, arrived back home at 5% left (I'd spent the day taking my dad back to Newcastle where he was brought up, so we had three rapid chargers in the day getting from West Yorkshire and back), gave me a really good test of what the car can do and how far I can push it when out of the bounds of the return range.

I must admit I’m happy to push the distance a little further based on these findings, the warnings you receive about low power or charging are very much well in advance and can I presume panic people not used to the EV or pushing these limits, I’m much more comfortable having pushed on that I know it doesn’t suddenly drop...mine was fairly consistent and stable, but I would definitely drop to ECO and not use heating unless really required when the final bar is lit..

A good thing about the MG is it doesn't seem to throttle speed / climate like my e-Golf used to. In that once you hit 25% it went into Eco mode, with limited climate and speed limited to 67mph and at 10% it would be in Eco+ with no climate and a top speed of 50mph. You really knew that you were pushing it (as well as dash lights), while the first time that happens its great that you have that "nannying" so you can't make a mistake, it does limit your ability to enjoy getting the maximum range while enjoying the same level of performance when out of that 25% bottom part of the battery.

Yesterday I got the first warning at 1 bar showing 33 miles range left as I was approaching an Ultra charge point. When I connected up it said 25% so I think that is exactly in line with what Mike said in his very detailed post on SOC. (Thanks for that info Mike - very useful to know). Rather than push the car to it's limits I think it best to treat the various warnings seriously and look for a re-charge soon. It reminds me of my youth when it was common to carry a gallon can in the boot just in case. One day I ran out of petrol confidently knowing I had a reserve in the boot. But instead of then driving to a petrol station after using my reserve I reckoned I could squeeze another few miles before filling up. Yes you guessed it I ran out again in the same day. Doh! lesson learned.

Agree, but shows you not to panic when you only have two or three bars left; it may look low buts there still plenty in the battery ?

I get mine down to 20%-25% (first warning light) before charging to maintain/improve the service life of the HV.

I had a 143 mile business trip last week. The Polar charger I’d targeted for a midway top-up crapped out on me after 15 minutes; then the barrier for the car park where the charger was wouldn’t let me out ? so was stuck for a further 15 minutes.

Having hit traffic, there was no time to stop again before the meeting, so arrived with 11 miles on GOM ?... knowing the nearest Shell charger was only 4 miles distant.

But a major outbreak of range anxiety when the GOM went to - - - with 2 miles still to go ? - prompting a VERY feather-touch right foot until I rolled into the charging bay!

Surely isn't about just planning your journey. I now never do a journey longer than 50miles without checking the route distance on googlemaps, and finding rapid chargers near my destination. If I've got a journey of 60miles and 45 left in the tank I am pretty confident I'll be fine. Ive run it down to 10miles and left without much worry, especially if you're driving in a built up area where you can use the regen.

The lower the mileage left, the less percentage error of the GOM will matter, so the more you can trust it. A 20% error when you have 150 of range is a fair bit, but 20% of 10miles is negligible.

Just confirmed today one of the things @Mike said above :
"The GoM turns to --- at 10 miles"

After the "---" displays, then it is able to drive at least another 4.6 miles
(in ECO mode-Regen Level=3 @ avg. speed of 45miles/perH with Heat=1bar in RED and Fan Speed=Max - 1 bar)

It probably would have gone further but I reached home so could not check :-)
