hi folks ive had my ev 6 months its 9 moths old but ive always had a grinding noise which i can feel when im braking when i have to use the the brakes when its in cruise instead of letting the adaptive brake its self i dont get any noice and they work perfectly if i arnt on cruise or if the adaptive works on it own has anyone got any ideas or had the same problem

Normal apparently, I don't use the ACC in traffic because of this noise as it applies the brakes, it's embarrassing.

thankyou i didnt think there could be much wrong with them working normal on there own but yes if thats how they are its not a good sound and you can feel it n the pedal

i read somewhere else that certain electric cars because the regen is so good at slowing cars down that the brakes hardly get used and begin to sound rough and some models where the regen actually stops the car the brakes do get rust.

But the hole in that theory is that they don't make that noise under normal braking, using friction brakes, when driving without ACC on.

When using ACC the regen does not slow the car, it does use the brakes. Regen only happens under non ACC driving, a bit of a missed opportunity if you ask me.

My previous car was the egolf which used regen when the ACC was on.

I wouldnt get hung up over the amount of electricity going back in to the battery under regen, it was measured in watts, not kwatts.

The main benefit was the saving on brakes, after 50k miles the brakes had only worn down 20%, that would have meant nearly 250k miles on one set of brake pads!

btw, i also get a grating noise when on ACC when it comes to a stop.

I am sure a software update in the future will rectify this. massive missed opportunity there
