I’ve got a 2021 Excite.

I live in a village in the country with no streetlights. The headlights are fine, looking forward, but when I want to do a 90 degree left at a junction I can’t see if there’s anything in the road before I turn.

I’ve been driving for 40 years and never known anything like it.

Is it possible to make the headlight beam wider or to buy a replacement bulb with a wider beam?

I love the car, but it’s scary at junctions at night.

I've been driving for 50 years and I've never had a car with headlights that shine round corners

I don't think the MK1 headlights have a reputation has being very good, so maybe that's part of the general issue.

Facelift LEDs by comparison are superb

Some of the VAG cars have lights that help when it comes to corning.
They are usually built into the fog lights in the lower skirt and only on when making a tight turn.
As soon as the steering wheel is returned from full lock, they extinguish.
It does help with lighting that dark spot, low down at kerb level.
Had them on a Golf once ?.
Yeah - Gen1 head lights give off a yellowish light and are poor by todays standards.
Not a major problem if you don’t conduct a lot of night driving, but I would look at upgrading the bulbs TBH.
