Help needed from any ‘wise’ source. I’m in a dilemma with this android auto subject. Seems to me I have three options. 1/ Stay as I am with no phone attached, but phone in car or on person. 2/ Plug the phone into the car with a cable. Or 3/ Plug in a wireless gadget that does all sorts of magic tricks.

Here are the reasons for the dilemma. With option 1/ I have the radio, music on usb stick, in-built satnav, no additional expenses, but no voice commands. Option 2/ not good because I have no music on my phone and very few apps that I would want to use. Small outlay for a cable or a converter plug. Option 3/ big outlay of 40/60 ish quid for something I’m not sure would benefit me.

Final wish, please be patient with someone at the far end of the age spectrum

Option 2.
But you might need an app or two.
I have bbc sounds app, so I can request the radio through the voice button.
And Amazon Music app so I can ask it to play me literally any music ever created.

Once you plug your phone in Android Auto is automatic with no additional steps required.

Just press and hold the voice button until the 'bong' then tell it what you want it to do.

One possible "amendment" to your option 3.

I recently bought this and it works perfectly, using AA and my Galaxy A54 phone.

I don't play music from my phone so cannot comment on that part of your request but, following the instructions provided in the box on setting it up it functions for calls, sat nav, messages etc., without problem. I no longer need to think about plugging in my phone (which often involved plugging, unplugging and replugging to make the connection "work", and often then forgetting to unplug and take it with me when leaving the car!) because it connects as soon as I start the car and I can even leave the phone in the boot and have full AA connectivity including voice commands.

And I see the price of that unit has actually fallen since I bought mine!

Thanks for both your replies. I notice AA can also tweak DPI values to match the display, which I had cause for concern in an earlier post about the font size in the MG3 display. So, unless things change, looks like AA.
Thanks once again.
