Help on definitive list of firmware updates

Help appreciated please. I have my ZS booked into dealer on 14th Dec as the satnav if started starts to load then blanks the screen requiring a long press on the reset button. Then main screen reappears but is completely unresponsive or on other occasions just unresponsive for the satnav. I did persuade the dealer to install comfort 2 pack before collecting the new car last week. However whenever I ask about other updates or a definitive what firmware is on my car I get fobbed off with “it’s all handled at port now and comes as it comes”. So can anyone give me a definitive list of what I should ask to be installed on a vehicle that was brand new on 27 Nov 2020. Thanks......

1. 2nd Generation Comfort System update which shows outside temperature on infotainment system and the range on bottom left of information pack. (Dealer may charge for this)

2. BMS update to allow charging while car unlocked which also allows delayed smart charging. (Warranty-free of charge)

3. HV fuse update (no way of telling if this has been done) (warranty-free of charge)

4. Battery heater update. Allows the battery to be warmed up prior to rapid charging. Extra option on car settings in infotainment system. (Dealer may charge for this)

5. Early cars had a problem with the drivers door wiring loom. (Warranty-free of charge)

1 & 4 are ‘improvements’ so potentially chargeable.

2, 4 & 5 are warranty fixes.

@NCF which dealer?

You can tell from previous posts from @NCF. The sales team there are completely clueless about this vehicle, other than actually selling it. Some of the nonsense they spout is ridiculous.
I do worry about how this dealer uses a sisters company's ICE garage next door and the level of training and resources put into the EV take up. Most mechanics I know do admit to being less confident with electrical and firmware issues.

Thanks for the detailed listing, now to get back to my dealer who stated that all the updates have been done, only pick it up at the beginning of November and the BMS is definitely not done. @Mike do you know roughly how long each one takes to install

I guess we should add the satnav 2020 update too although with the Toolbox 4 download it’s quite easy to do yourself. — Maps and charger location updates

I dropped my car off at 0830, all done by 1000. That was BMS & HVB updates.

Remember to take both keys!

Hey Tango, being in Preston, where did you take your car for the BMS and HVB Fuse Updates?

I am in Blackpool and as you may know from my previous postings, I took my car into Perry's Preston to be updated only to be told my cars VIN Number was not included in the update list.

I bought the car at the end of September 2020 and was told that my car arrived with them already having the Comfort 2 software installed.

Because my car wasn't on the VIN Listing, they approached MG UK and was told the BMS 2020 update was not suitable for my vehicle and they was given a workaround software by MG UK to download which allowed the car to charge when unlocked, but it doesn't work the same as Mike shows in his video.

I have to lock the car to start the charging, walk away with the fob, give it a minute for the small info screen to go off, then I use the door handle to unlock the car NOT the Fob, and it keeps on charging.

However, when it unlocks using the door handle, the Cable Locking Mechanism also unlocks, so someone could help themselves to my cable. Not a brilliant workaround but for now it works.

Perry's still haven't answered my question if my car has the HVB Fuse update or not, they claim to keep emailing MG UK but no answers coming back.

I have taken my Service Contract out now with Chorley Motors MG, but the service isn't due until September 2021, unless they will carry out intermediate checks, maybe I should speak with them.

Chorley Group MG (Burnley), give Charlie a call in the service team, he was great to deal with and knowledgeable about the software updates.

Contacted Chorley MG Burnley online yesterday and received a phone call from Charlie this morning.

I explained over the phone all the update problems that Perry's in Preston don't seem too be able to resolve or confirm if the car has them or not.

As I took my service contract out with Chorley Motors, the Car is booked in for the updates to be checked from next Monday.

Charlie asked me to take BOTH keys in and warned he may need it for a full day, so looks like he will be looking to re-install the Comfort 2 again and the BMS / HVB Fuse updates all together.

We wait and see Tango.

Thanks for your contact information, I hope they can finally get to the bottom of these updates once and for all.
