Hi everyone I'd really appreciate some advice. I've an MG4 SR and can get about 150 miles at 3.0 m.KWh. Next week I'll be travelling from wolverhampton to Bournemouth, about 180 miles.

I wondered if anyone had any great suggestions about where to charge?

There are two different route options, one is M5 south to Cheltenham then the A34 through Swindon, to Newbury...
The other is M40 past Banbury (Tesla chargers could be used there) down to Bicester then the A34 past Oxford through to Newbury...

then from Newbury it's via Winchester and M27.

I 've had real problems the handful of times I've gone further than the car's range, it gets stressful trying to plan with no local knowledge. Thanks in anticipation.

Use the free ABRP app to plan the route and any charging you need. I know there are some rapid charges on the Shell services at Tothill on A34 south of Newbury.

I have a number of ev maps on my phone but not ABRP. The clearest one is WattsUp which shows a route with all the chargers displayed and you can display them listed by miles to work out your own charging points. Eg. for you M4 Chievely Gridserve chargers at 109 miles is a good stopping point. Though after that there does not seem to be many very fast chargers.

I've used the rapid chargers at Tothill Services. The Electroverse website has pictures. There are about 13 chargers. They are Shell so you can use an Electroverse card. If you haven't got one one, it's worth getting one. You don't need to be an Octopus customer. The is a nearby Starbucks if you want a coffee.
Note that Chievely can get full around lunch time.
If you haven't done so, it's worthwhile loading the apps for chargers which you might want to use, and setting up your credit card details. Contactless isn't always reliable as your card may be declined.
As an aside, there can be long queues of traffic to leave the M40 at Wendlebury interchange, to join the A34.

I'd second that on getting an Octopus Electroverse card. I've used mine twice now (I'm not a regular public charger !) but both times I've never had any "holding" charge on my credit card. The correct amount is just debited. They also have occasional cheap deals ... currently 5% off Ionity, 10% off any Source London location and notifications of occasional "Plunge Pricing" offers.
