Hi, first post been reading and garnering information from the forum.
Can't see anything about this, lately when I put foot down to accelerate to over take or entering from slip road. The engine revs really high sometimes showing at 5000rpm it's almost as if car thinks it should drop a gear.
Anyone else with this.

So you put your foot down and the car revs really high?

3 speed autobox will change down if you're asking for power.

Sounds perfectly normal to me.

I've had a Toyota CHR that screamed its head off every time I wanted to overtake.

CVT box made me sound like a right numpty.

One of the reasons I got shot of it.

Yeah was my thinking as well, but thought 5000rpm was bit extreme especially from 50ish 60 ish to 70. Would have thought it could have handled it quite easily in its top gear. Bit of a numpty is about right engine screams and really doesnt accelerate that fast when it happens.

I had a similar experience this morning but not under acceleration. The car was running on EV in town, when the engine kicked in at high revs. It was like driving with the choke out, back in the day. When I stopped in traffic, it switched back to EV. I was looking around to see if anyone was watching. Probably down to the cold air.

Noticed similar when going up hill near to where I live. It went from EV to HEV with the gearbox probably in second gear.
